United States businessman Ellis Short has taken total control of Sunderland. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sunderland/8069975.stm)Short has increased his 30% majority stake to 100% and bought out the Niall Quinn consortium which had taken over the Black Cats in 2006. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sunderland/8069975.stm)
Quinn, who will continue as chairman, told the Sunderland website: "This is fantastic news for the club. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sunderland/8069975.stm)
"As long as we invest the funds wisely, he will continue to provide the financial muscle necessary to compete at the highest level." (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sunderland/8069975.stm)
I cant help but be optimistic. I mean, we're a massive club anyway... (;))

Didn't Keane spend close to £100 million in 2years? lol, £200 million will only make you a couple places higher, although you will have a different manager :P

if they spent 200m and just struggled to stay up then where are Stoke heading? :P
Supposedly our owner said he would spend '50m', that'd take us up .5 of a place! pah, he won't spend that anywayz.

Sorry to burst your bubble but they just said on SSN that Sunderland have stopped talks with Wigan to sign Bruce as Wigan wanted £3M in compensation.

eh, if we wanted him that bad, we'd cough up. If we can afford 9m for Gordon, we can afford 3m for Brucey. We got allll the summer to negotiate that deal, and Wigan proved they are a selling on club.

Hahaha I'm pretty sure we can afford 3m, especially with Short in place now ;).
Nial Quinn was quoted saying that Short turned down a bid of 20m for Jones, which has gotta be a good sign!
The club can only go forwards from here :).

I'd rather keep him tbh, he does well when he plays without Cisse.
