I've moved to ClubHabbo but I feel i must bring the info I brought to the, to you! So here goes;
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its just round the corner. The release of HabboCMS, and therefore I feel it is only out of respect for me to come today, and preach the news and updates from the HabboCMS developement office.

As HabboCMS was intended to be an open source CMS, we where wondering how we where to retrieve the lengthy costs of servers, and the designs for the system, and therefore we came up with 2 seperate systems. One called HabboBLOG and the obvious, HabboCMS.

HabboBLOG
HabboBLOG is intended for the people who want to let the Habbo world know about there goings on. With a basic design, that can be altered to the users needs, and some groovy features, you wont go wrong.

HabboBLOG will be an extremely basic version of HabboCMS and will include a News System, the ability to add 1-3 custom pages, and comments on your posts. We will be offering free and paid downloads for add-ons and skins for HabboBLOG.

What do you think of this idea?

HabboCMS
HabboCMS is truly the one we've all been waiting for. HabboCMS has been developed to aid the lesser ability coders with producing a good looking fansite, acustom to their needs. The HabboCMS system will be available for a small cost, in both Habbo, SMS and Paypal, and will be available worldwide.

HabboCMS includes features such as a News System, Rare Values, Events panel script, Forum Integration, Job Application System, Radio Panel and again, add-ons to download from our website. We hope to build a User System add on for this, but this will come in the near future.

Our current pricing for this system will be a meer 10HC for one month licensing, which is then reduced by 30% to 7HC every month after that.

Other News

Advertising space is still available. We have currently spent around £190 on this project, including vBulletin license and several designs produced proffesionally, Our advertising space is the only way we can earn a little bit of cash before the current release's. All cash we do make will go towards funding future developements and upgrades to the project.

Our current prices are as follows:
£3 for one months banner advertising on the current maintenence page, and the site layout when we open, this advert is placed on a rotator.
[Do you feel this is a fair price, compared with stats below?]

Feedback

With HabboCMS being a product built entirely around its users, we would appreciate any feedback you have for the project. If you dont like anything, or have any ideas how we can develope this system further before the release date, please feel free to contact me, my PM box is always open, and I will always reply! :)

Dont forget, this will probably be the final chance to pick up some hints and tips on the software before its beta release within the next 2 weeks, so take this oppurtunity and spread the word

Thank you for your time, appreciation and effort through HabboCMS's lengthy developement,
We really do appreciate it.

Callum
(HabboCMS Owner and Developer)

"HabboCMS was intended to be an open source CMS,"

So i take it your project is no longer open source? if it were i'd be inclined to point out, google, sourceforge and a great number of others would freely host the project giveing you free access to advanced services such as svn, bug trackers and the like :)

We decided that because we've had to put so much into this, without anything in return (Finance wise) we h ad to come up with something that everyone can use, and something thats a bit more unique for people willing to put in that extra stuff.

HabboBLOG will be open source.

Ok, when working open source you'd be suprised what you can get done for free, if your paying for stuff other than hardware, you've gone wrong lol :)

Do you have a location the source of the habboblog software can be accessed?

plus, good luck with the project :)

We'll be releasing HabboBLOG at the same time as HabboCMS, and it'll all be available for download on the site.

Btw, what do you mean by things for free if its open source, this is the first I've heard of it?!?! :)

Thanks for your interest btw

When creating something to be released under an open source license, people are much more willing to donate the time towards it than to something which is just going to make someone else money. Time after all is a designer/developer's most important asset after all, so if people will contribute time, you have an almost unlimited pool of experience, design skill and programming ability that can be injected in to the project.
If your paying someone for the design, programming and advice, thats fine, but doesn't really make scene for a non-commercial product as in essence your just throwing money away.

Google, source forge and others will also even host projects for free, provide advanced features such as subversion, bug trackers and wikis. So in open source development the only real cost should be time rather than cash :)

This is just my experience though :)

The developers of GIMP have spent thousands of £££'s,
yet GIMP is free...

Do you not see the horrible spelling and grammar you have used in this post?

You're coming to "preach" to us from the HabboCMS development offices? (wth! that's seriously funny, of course.. since you have an "office")

Because you like being the big fish in the small pond? Habbox has a very active web design/dev community with alot of skilled developers working on a good range of products. This means, unlike with clubhabbo many of the developers wont just default be in awe of whatever you do, plenty of them have already done it yourself.

If you just want your ego stroked, sure clubhabbo may be fine, but in keeping with the fish metaphour, your'll always be a small fry. The habbox community may be harsher, more blunt, but with that comes more honesty, much better feedback, and its the latter to things you'll want if you really want to get your ideas of the ground :)

Personally im much more for the hxf way of doing things, i wanna hear whats wrong with my projects as i want to fix those oversights, not just hide em but i suppose thats not for everyone.

He does make a good point, if you notice club habbo's age range is alot younger thus so alot are less skilled in places, most are just coming to make their "1 week fansites" ect.. compared to Habbox which is alot of the older generation. Most dont even play habbo and can give pure critasism

Then stay there. If you can't take reality at HxF, go get your "fake reality" (by people who have no earthly idea what they are talking about at ClubHabbo).

The people here at HxF are honest, blunt, and just downright more experienced then probably anyone at ClubHabbo.

So you can take your pick by getting the "kind", "amazing", and sugarcoated crap CHF gives you, or you can take the reality that HxF gives you to improve what you're doing.

Just so everyone knows, I'm developing HabboBLOG and will be staying over here at HXF. I've also decided that HabboBLOG will be open-source and have planned many changes for the future!

If anyone is interested, just send a pm my way. I'll make a thread within the next week or so outlining the details such as svn, updates, change logs etc, etc (thanks to Mentor for his help in this area).
