Ive had this problem in the joint of my big toe for a year or two now but it's really doing my head in now.
It hurts to press it, and since I play football alot it uncomfortable when running. I can't even bend my my big toe without any pain. Any ideas? :\

Have you seen a doctor about it?

nope ive never thought it was serious enough for a doctor to check it out.
Maybe you've pulled something, I've got a similar pain in my wrist for the past two days :(

Just go to the doctor and ask them to take a look at it - it's what they're there for :)

I would just let it be and walk it off gradually

Well when it has lasted for a year or two might be worth getting it checked out. You shouldn't be in pain when you run.

Go see a doctor anyway, it's free so you might as well take advantage of that- they are here to help after all.
Might be a sprain, get it checked out to be on the safe side.

It's not going to be "walked off" if it has been like that for a while.
I go to the doctors for smaller things that call me discomfort. It's worth going there it it's causing you annoyance on a daily basis.

Maybe it's dislocated or broken. I know that sounds stupid that you haven't "noticed" but i have dislocated my toe next to my big toe and went on for about a week until i decided it shouldn't be at a 25o angel to everything else.
There may be a small bone broken in it that hurts to press or something and it's not healing because you're doing so much sport or w.e. See a dcotor and they may send you for an x-ray

It could be broken, or sprained. I don't have any movement in my big toe because I severed a nerve and it never re-gained full movement. I would go get it checked out, it could also be an ingrown toe nail!

Whatever it is, it's weird. I haven't done any cardio for about a week now and I don't feel any pain on it whatso ever but I know as soon as I play football or something, the pain will come back.
