View Full Version : Netherlands beat England in T20 opener

Well, we didn't see this one coming, did we? The final overs were very tense. Netherlands needed 7 from 6, 6 from 5 etc until they got the 2 they needed from the final ball. Fair play to the Netherlands.

We already sent one of our better players home... giving you guys a head start ;)

We are. I think we need to call back some of our old retired batsmen, namely, Gilchrist, the Waugh brothers, Mark Taylor... *REMOVED*

tbf the current aussie team hasn't proved anything yet.

We do have a pretty good wicket keeper. The lad made a century in his first test series? Everyone had doubts that he would live up the Gillies hype.. proved them wrong ;)

And the Aussie team is **** at the moment tbh.

You heard of ravi bopara? 4 centuries in his first 6 tests.

One of the first English players ever to get 3 centuries consecutively.

no it was 3 ducks and then 3 centuries.

i still cant believe we lost though, what was they doing putting rob key ahead of dimitri mascheranas. or graham napier - bad memories of him when he played sussex last year.

I really love Broad.

Flintoff pissed off Yuvraj and Broad got hit for six 6's.
Broad said that "England will win the T20 Cup and the Ashes" and they lost the first match!! haha.

Come on Pakistan, please beat England tomorrow!

And then India to win the cup again :D

ill eat my hat if the **** (india) retain the world cup. :)

south africa will.

and pls link me to where broad quotes where says "england WILL win the ashes and T20 world cup" - come on, pls link me to some proof.

and no one cares if broad got hit for sixes off yuvraj, that was like a year ago, is that like the highlight of your life or smt?

you must be a proper indian, support pakistan to beat england? pfft, true indian you are mate.

Scotland were unlucky, you the Scottish batsman called Poonia who hit 29 off 15 balls (I think) - well his brother goes to my school, and I know him pretty well, he batted will, I feel so cool that I know somebody who was on tele! :P

Geraint
06-06-2009, 09:35 PM
Chris Gayle is probably the best T20 batsman around. Scotland did well when batting but New Zealand have some big hitters and they moved their 2 best batsmen to the top of the order to get back the runs.

did you see his massive 105m six?

class, i didnt like what he said though during tour of england, that he doesnt care if test cricket died out and be replaced by one day forms.

england have to shape up against pakistan tomorrow and this is my team

Bopara
Wright
Napier/Kevin Pietersen - injury doubt
Morgan
Collingwood
Foster
Mascheranas
Swann
Sidebottom - uncertain about if he is suited for 20/20
Broad
Anderson

why are they playing shah as he is terrible at the moment, i agree with 3 front line seemers though to bowl there full allocated overs - makes 12. Swann for spin. Give Mascheranas and collingwood with even a bit of wright, napier and bopara who can all bowl medium pacers.

Wolverhampton

I totally agree with your team, I think we should keep Pietersen where he's best at this moment in time - the bench. We need him fit for the ashes, just like Freddy Flintoff, this T20 is not important compared to the ashes and we need our best players ready for then.

I would like to see Napier play tomorrow, it would set him a stage where he could break onto the world scene as a top T20 player.

the money's in the shorter formats of the game. it's more fun, better to play, better to watch etc. he's a one-day specialist so he would say it anyway.

Man that post made me laugh so much. Cricinfo.com (ESPN) and look at the England vs Netherlands commentary. It was nearly 2 years ago actually and wow you are getting proper worked up over it. Yes its the highlight of my life >.> I just mentioned how cocky and unlucky he is ...
What was even funnier was that he was being rude towards Ganguly in a match and Ganguly came towards him with his bat and Broad literally ran off.

I am only supporting Pakistan because they are probably going to get through anyway, but its going to be funny to see England get out early.

And second time in the same year (after decades) that someone got hit for 6 6's in international cricket, so yes it was a great moment in cricket history (H).

but personally i dont think it needed to be said.

i prefer tests to ODI and T/20, no matter how exciting and more inventive and big shots in the ODI games and T/20 it still cant compete when your on that final hour of a five day test match needing to get two wickets to win the series.

My predictions for tomorrows games

Scotland v South Africa - SA win - unless the weather has something to say.

England v Pakistan - ENG win - it is going to be close but im sure we will get the score needed and hopefully a better team selection

But the notion of seeing England not getting past the group stages makes it worth supporting Pakistan =).

whats wrong with my attitude?
I support English football team but the cricket team is seriously filled with idiots like Broad and Flintoff. I respect some of the players but the majority behave immaturely and thats why I dislike them.

Just because I live here doesnt mean I have to show the team respect. If they dont deserve respect then they wont get it, simple as.

Thats what I dont like, many people believe Indians etc are lucky to live in England, which in fact England is just as lucky to have us.

Erm, if you're not lucky to live in England, why aren't you living in India?

I never said I am not lucky to be living here?

I said England is just as lucky to have us.

And I said "Indians etc", and because we create jobs and help the economy. If my family werent here, about 25 people would be jobless because believe me, they would find it extremely hard to get jobs.
And one of my dads friend who is from Pakistan owns a large shop and he employs around 4 people. So yeah we pretty much create alot of the jobs and help the economy.

Wolverhampton

So what you're saying is, if your family wasn't he, then the 25 poor white English people who are less educated that your father employs, wouldn't get jobs? rite?

please, get your head out of your arse and get off your high horse. There's enough jobs for anyone who can be arsed to get off their backside and find the job right for them, even if it be litter picking, it's still a job.

Fact is, if their were less Indian people, their would be more jobs for proper British people who deserve jobs.

LOL alot of Indian create jobs not take them. Is we werent here, those 25 people wouldnt get a job, meaning less British people would have a job. So basically your point is flawed?

Anyway there was an article on BBC a few months ago on how quite a high percentage of the jobs in this country is created by foreigners. I will try and find it tomorrow if I get time as I like to back my points up.
Ofcourse we are lucky to be here too, but remember this country only got rich by robbing the world, which I have to admit was extremely clever.

And obviously India owe's a lot to British companies too as they create jobs there too. So I guess its balanced out. But I just hate it when people say we take British people's job when we create a lot of them :\.
The people who annoy me are the ones who come from another country to live here and just claim benefits and refuse to find a job.

And btw, large British companies are actually getting more people from other countries for the highly paid jobs. E.g. one of my cousions just graduated in India and a British company contacted him and hired him and asked him to come over here ... so quite a few people don come here and start looking for jobs, the companies look in other countries.

Anyway we all have different opinions anyway. But I understand a lot of British peoples frustration because when I go to India, I sometimes feel the same towards some people from other countries.

If even more flawed, that article you wrote was probably on the subject of foreign owners of big firms such as ASDA, and mostly every other big company in the UK, B&Q, Iceland and Ikea being anothers, id expect that Indian people employ less then 1% of British people, which is really nothing.

We weren't the only country that robbed the world, most of the other seven richest countries on this earth also robbed the world. Maybe apart from the latest super powers such as China, but they're communists, and that's a different subjects all together.

Good night.

What jobs do they make, kebab take aways? Seriously, England would still be ENGLAND if we didn't take on loads of these indians and pakistanis. They take our jobs and to add the icing to the cake they even create more jobs and hire more of their kind. I'm not racist I'm just a nationalist. Thanks the lord that your actually in a proper country and not a star in slumdog millionaire.
