View Full Version : Posting Youtube Videos

Is it actually possible to post youtube videos that play on the forum? If it is then why are we not allowed to do it? It would be better if we could include the videos rather than having to post the link to it. Youtube videos are filtered and any that are classed as unnacceptable for minors are blocked unless you have an account that is registered as over 18 - maybe some kind of block could be put into place to stop them videos from being posted on here. Another good reason is that it would help people get better responses to videos that they want you to view, like if I see a post in the funny videos and jokes section that has a link to a video I sometimes ignore them because I can't be bothered opening up another site.

Good idea, I've seen it on a few forums & I can't see why it hasn't been added on here.

I take it as a no from you then. :P

But here are some reasons why it could work;

You have to click play for the video to load which means no lag for everyone, just the person that's loading it.

Youtube don't allow any adult material.

It's safer because we wouldn't be tricked into any sites for example: Click here for a youtube video which could be any old site. Even though you can find out what site it is by hovering over it, some people would just click it.

It's incredibly annoying when old discussions get re-created.
The funny thing is that one of those old discussions was recently bumped, so it's clear where you got this original idea from :rolleyes:

As you saw in the thread you copied, the answer was no.
I'm pretty sure it will remain this way.

Umm.... Excuse me? The thread that got bumped was bumped this morning at 9:15. When did I make this thread? Also, the threads that nvr has listed were made in october/september last year - I didn't even know they existed till just now. :rolleyes:

My wrong about the bump.

Still... you're an old enough member to know how this forum works, no extra anything to avoid security issues.

There have been many videos posted on here and were completely inappropriate which hadn't been blocked by Youtube. Over 18 is classified as pretty hardcore by Youtube so very strong language and quite a bit of adult content isn't. It probably wouldn't be abused by the majority but there are always 'jokers' around the forum who would find it highly amusing. Links with warnings are fine, I feel. Remember parents of younger members in particular
could be 'policing' what their children watch and it wouldn't look very good for Habbox at all if unsuitable videos were just posted on and I am sure that one of the conditions of being an official Habbo fansite would also address this. Its a no brainer IMO.

I hate it when people dont bother using the search function.

In the feedback section you will find that things do keep popping back up. It's ok to say "use the search feature" but no harm is done by having another shot at getting something done. Many people have opinions on things, some will say no to ideas and some will say yes, just because some people have said no to the idea doesn't mean that we should end it there. It's become quite obvious that with this idea that there are to many flaws for it to work safely which is why I'm going to close the thread. But I guarantee that you will see this being brought up again in the future even if they know it has already been discussed.

And about the -rep, you will see that invincible made the same mistake of saying that I copied the other thread. The other thread was bumped a day after I posted this, invincible admitted it was his mistake and said sorry - you have just made things even worse.
