I did this morning, it wouldnt even let me move inside one of them world cup rooms with the new football range, i got to the gate and then it just completly stopped moving, even after being zoomed out

Well it won't be something small. If it was furni motto's they'd have updated the motto's and stuff before taking the hotel down. Just taking it down to upload the new file.

Groups would take a while. There's 3 hotels with tens of thousands of groups to compensate for. They'll all need new ID's and some will need new names too.

Fairly doubt that one of your friends would hack the site. They have security stuff for that, the last time the main website went down on the UK hotel ages ago without a maintenance break was when the server went down and I think this is the case at the moment. :)
