Starting on 13 June, at 05:01, you'll be able to choose a username for your Facebook account to easily direct friends, family, and coworkers to your profile.
Check out the Facebook Blog for more information or send yourself an email with the details.

Seems like another feature is coming to Facebook, will be more easy to link to our profiles :)!

Generally don't like usernames, they're easier to login I suppose but the problem with Bebo was everyone was called X-Hot-Girl-99-X so I had no idea who they were. The thing with Facebook is everyone is called by their full name rather than these lame nicknames and usernames.

you can see if your names been reserved and is in use already, because facebook employees and clients/journalists got offered custom names earlier.

type in the name your after at the end of the facebook addres, e.g http://www.facebook.com/mike mike's in use, even though 4 character name arn't allowed?

They have a list of things you can't use, but they aren't leading anywhere for copyright and obscenity.
