The CIA director has said he believes al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is hiding in Pakistan.

US intelligence chief Leon Panetta was asked by reporters whether he was sure that Bin Laden (http://indepth.news.sky.com/InDepth/topic/Osama_Bin_Laden) was in Pakistan.
Mr Panetta replied: "The last information we had, that's still the case."
The US spy agency hopes to close in on him as Pakistan's military cracks down on the tribal area where he is thought to be hiding.
Bin Laden, who has eluded a US manhunt since the terror attacks on September 11, 2001, has issued audio and videotapes over the years demonstrating he is still alive.
Mr Panetta said finding bin Laden is "one of our major priorities."
He added: "One of our hopes is that the Pakistanis move in militarily, combined with our operations, we may be able to have a better chance" to find him.

He also said al Qaeda (http://indepth.news.sky.com/InDepth/topic/Al-Qaeda) "remains the most serious security threat" to the United States and its leaders, particularly in Pakistan, continue to plot against America.
There are "a number of people" on the ground in Pakistan providing intelligence on al Qaeda targets to the US, he said.
The intelligence agency is also focusing on countries where al Qaeda might find safe havens, like Somalia and Yemen, Mr Panetta went on.
Meanwhile, the leader of al Qaeda in Afghanistan has reportedly said militants are short of food, weapons and other supplies needed to fight foreign forces there.
On a website used by top al Qaeda leaders and other militants to post statements, Mustafa Abu al-Yazid said: "In Afghanistan, we have a severe supply deficit.
"The main reason for the weakness in operations is insufficient supplies.
"Many mujahedeen sit and wait and cannot fight for lack of supplies."
Yazid called on Turks to provide money and supplies for al Qaeda forces in Afghanistan, appealing to their common Muslim identity, and called for Turks to pray for the militants.
Al Qaeda has been severely weakened in Afghanistan since US-led forces toppled their Taliban hosts in response to the terror attacks on September 11, 2001.
And weirdly enough, a few hours after there was a suicide bomber that killed 1 and injured 14 in Pakistan, possibly a diversion so Osama can get out?

This has been known for ages, i wouldnt say its anything new.

Also to the comment about the bomb attack and getting obama out, thats really unlikely. There has been many attacks like this now since pakistan went into the Swat valley.

Good idea, let him know they have an idea where he is. Then he can hide for another 10 years in Uzbekistan.

We were told he was in Pakistan numerous times ever since we invaded Afghanistan (two months later after 9/11).

Well he's not because he keeps making videos on whats going on in the world. Like Obama going to Egypt and so on.

Do you think the army shoot him on sight or try and capture him to get more out of him. I would probably order them to shoot on sight, he's had his fair share of lives.

He hasn't made a proper video for ages, he's just made very dubious tape recordings so I have my doubts whether he is alive or whether it's even him.

We were told he was in Pakistan numerous times ever since we invaded Afghanistan (two months later after 9/11).Exactly, it's been common knowledge for many years that he's meant to be in the Pakistani mountains. I personally believe he is, there's not much else he could go.

The US government is hiding bin Laden away snug and safe. Probably treating him at a secret hospital like they did in 2001. All these videos of him are so obviously decoys, you can see it so clearly. One time the decoy wrote with the wrong hand.

He could easily of made videos in the past, and got people to send them out after his death.

They have been about things Huntey, so no. To those saying "he has made videos so he's alive". Have you seen the videos? They aren't clear in any way shape or form. They could easily be someone else. If they admitted Bin Laden was dead they would have lost an icon, to them anyway.

Imagine Obamas approval rating if he caught Bin Laden, Itd sky rocket higher than Bush's after 9/11.

I hope hes caught and brought to justice.

The latest video which was proper was him talking about Obama visiting egypt and about what Obama was going to do. No-one can impersonate him, the CIA or Detectives would check that video over and over for perfected face matches to the files they have.

If you check the latest video on skynews you will see him talking about what was happening a few weeks ago.

EDIT: Lol captured and brought to death. No spare seconds for him.

That's a really simple minded view. You need to know it's not as easy or simple as that, there would be an uprising by his group (can't spell it) if he were killed just like that my the government officials.

Also i believe no one deserves to die but you should imprison him for the rest of his life, is it really up to us when people die.

He has taken to many lives to be given the 'luxury' of a prison cell. He won't be given a second chance at all.

The US government and the bin Laden family have been deep in each other's pockets for decades. They've helped each other out many, many times and they still are.

It's not a second chance his sentence wouldn't be appealable! He wouldn't get out in 5 years for good behavior. My view is why give him the luxury of death because i'm sure he would die happy with what he's done.

When he speaks on the videos, he often mentions recent events which prove he is still alive. The US don't just sit down when a new video comes through and go "oh right I think it might be real." - they will have teams looking at the video, comparing his voice, nose and everything.

Which is how the conspiracy theories originated, they themselves are doubtful it's him.

Terrorism was way blown over from what it was actually, especially as President George W Bush had cut terrorism funding from the CIA a few months prior to 9/11. Bush also recieved a document detailing a threat to the United States from Osama Bin Laden a few months/days before, he failed to read it. You may think a report called "Osama determined to attack within USA" would alarm a president, but as the days went by, George W just went fishing.

The whole thing was just to get into Iraq, there is no doubt in my mind Iraq was for oil especially as the Bush administration all had close links with oil companies, and the fact that Donald Rumsfeld himself had said to the CIA when they had reported Iraq has no WMD that he "didn't want to hear that".
