I was just thinking about when new members post. Wouldn't it just easyer to not have their posts moderated? It saves alot of time for the Super Moderators?

It would, there were alot of bots that used to come on at night and post in certain threads etc and be a nightmare so they cant access it. Also is a deterrant for those who want to cause trouble :)

I think moderating posts by new members is a much more better way to combat spam, advertising and general rule-breaking compared to dealing with them once they're already posted. It's not really difficult to approve posts/threads, so I wouldn't really think taking this system away would make it more easier for moderators. On the contrary really. In addition, users now hardly see spam bots posting scam sites or advertising rubbish as the moderators wouldn't/shouldn't approve such posts/threads. Whereas if moderating new posts/threads was to be taken away, members of the forum would see these and may even possibly go onto the sites and whatever happens after that is anyones guess.

Btw, normal moderators also moderate threads/posts within their sections.

Edit: Time shouldn't be an issue when it comes to making the forum safer. And really that's the top priority for the moderation team.

Simple answer: No.

Yes it may tale a few hours for the Moderators and Super Moderators to approve them but if we didn't use the system the forum would get filled up with pointless and unwanted posts. Even spam bots, posts that lead onto keyloggers/viruses whatever else they post. So at the moment the current system is doing pretty well.

I thought he meant let normal mods approve them instead of just smods

They already do. Not instead though, alongside SM.

Easier? Yes. Better? No.

I think it does a good job keeping unwanted members off the forum. The only down side is it puts the 'good' people off from registering.

Since I came up with this idea, I guess I'll have an input.

It would be easier, but at the time when I thought of the idea, there were a lot of Bot's, some of which didn't get banend and posts removed until 4ish in the afternoon, as MOD's and SMOD's had work/education etc.

Now since the post moderation idea was implemented, virtually all the bots were wiped, as no one wants to have to actually post 15 times to get the chance to spam.

Anyway just my view :)

There was no need to say "i came up with this idea" that dose not matter, i don't see you thread being posted in? So i doubt you did

That was no trying to start a fight lol

I was just saying I came up with the idea, as then people know where I get my views come, and since I guess I know more about first intentions than others?

And I am sure there is proof somewhere..

I posted years a go, but the idea was implemented not too long ago ;)

BTW mwah, why would I lie about this idea, there has been far more known ideas than this one ;p

I quite like it, the forum i moderate on always gets tons of spam bots. If someone is not online like 10 people report it and everyone is flipping out. I like the system here.

Couldn't agree more. Having worked under both systems I have to say this has been the best idea for years for keeping the forum clean especially of the bots. :)

Yeah the system is better but I personally think if I was a new member I would be really put off especially by the time it takes to get posts moderated (from what I've been told).

I seriously do not think that is true, Jake. They are checked very regularly. When I am on I check every few minutes. I will check now and see how many there are and edit.

Edit:
1 post.
0 threads
0 visitor messages.

I do think as well there would be complaints if they were delayed as well.
Possibly the only delay that could happen perhaps is overnight when GMT mods are in bed. I don't think that we can be expected to sacrifice our sleep or can we :P x

Yeah, like I said I can only speak from what I've been told. Obviously, you haven't been a super moderator for very long so if you're checking often enough then maybe that issue has been resolved which is good, obviously :)

Well from my personal experience I know a couple of the mods are very
concientious too along with the other Smods. I really agree though that it is something that should be given priority as new members are very important.
Matt and Garion keep an eagle eye on it :D

You have been told wrong Jake ;)

I have actually tested this is the past and I have to say the moderation has been EXCEPTIONAL.

I was really impressed and all my test posts were sorted within 10 minutes.

Members that get put off from joining are silly if this is the case, as they do not realise how happy with te system they wil be after their 15 posts, if they use other forums without the system!

Even I pitch in with the post and thread approvals and you wouldn't believe the amount of crap we deal with.

Examples:

To our game players, the most important thing we care about is where to buy cheap Habbo hotel gold (http://www.******.com/). So I have spent a lot of time finding the net. However I have got one from Google. At first, I could not believe what they said. Most of them said that they bought cheap Habbo hotel credit (http://www.*****.com/) safely and fast. Then I just wanted to have a try to buy Habbo hotel gold (http://www.******.com/) from it. I contacted with them first and asked the price of Habbo hotel gold. To my surprise, the gold was quite cheap. Besides they provided live contact 24/7 and their service attitude was not bad. What’s more, they assure our account’s safe after my payment. So I think it is a good place to buy Habbo hotel credit (http://www.******.com/)from ****

it called http://habboxfansite.*******.com/ plez go on it is my fansite i didn't have to pay for it, but not hacking site as it is on a free hosting sever lol

There was another one that plain outright asked for peoples usernames and passwords to be sent to an email address.

So, no I think getting rid of the post moderation would just be a ridiculous idea. Yeah it causes a mild inconvenience for your first 15 posts but it is a hell of a good way to filter out the crap.

When we perm ban people, it prevents them from coming back on "OMGDZYOUGHEYS" and spamming the forums with "ZOMGSZ YOU BANS ME BUT IZ MADE ANUFFA ACCOUNTZ INNITZ ##### YOU GUYZ"

It prevents our forums from being spammed by the clever bots and it stops scammers from trying to scam new users on our forums.

So yeah it may take a little while to approve peoples posts but it takes us much longer to ban a user, fill in the ban log and create a usernote for them. Remove their unacceptable posts or go via the method of warning them and infracting them.

Then it does to say, "validate", "ignore" "delete".

Omg! Those examples were fantastic!

That will now clear up exactly what other members have said!

Fantastic post Jin, +rep :)

Just to say Jin we still have to do all those things for members we have to ban such as spam bots/virus/keyloggers in moderation. It's just that the forum members don't have the inconvenience of the messed up forums. :P I think the system is great though as I said above.

Really I don't bother, I just ban them and then IP ban them from the Habbox Network for 2 weeks.

Should probably start logging my bans again :P.

Idk which of us it was, but I know why. When its a ban you have to look into appeals.

When it's a Jin ban, there is only one reply: "Appeal denied"

:P
