Chelsea's Didier Drogba will miss four European matches after being banned for his outburst following the Champions League defeat against Barcelona.
The striker also had an additional two-match ban suspended for two years.
His Blues team-mate José Bosingwa was banned for three European games, with a further one-match ban also suspended.
Both players were found guilty of making insulting comments to the referee by Uefa, which also handed Chelsea an £85,000 fine.
Chelsea were fined for the improper conduct of their players and the throwing of missiles by their fans.

They should be punished, yes.
However, I find it extremely humourous how Wayne Rooney and various other Manchester united players are always swearing and aggressively confronting referees yet they aren't faced with any form of punishment.

Rooney was sent off the last time so sort it out. Also, I haven't seen a United player act like this since the respect campaign was introduced. Stop reading the media and being so influenced without actually knowing yourself. Pet hate.

Have you ever watched Gary Neville when he plays?

My point was if you had the intelligence to realise was he hasn't played much and has been away from controversy. I thought someone who is in their late teens would be able to grasp that, sadly I was mistaken.

And my point was yes he didn't play much but he still had no respect for the referee, when you said you havn't seen a united player with no respect for the referee, sadly you failed to grasp that, even for a student supposedly getting A's?

I also compared it to Drogba, ok so can you please link me to where Neville or any other United player acted like Drogba? Evra included. I hate having to explain previous posts of mine. I'll simplify them next time for you and for anyone else who struggles.

I don't see what my academic grades have anything to do with this when you're the one struggling to understand points even when I make them as unequivocal as possible. Jealousy is horrible, get well soon.

Btw I was saying 'owned irl' at the old lady that got took out by the ball, not just at you. :)

Also in your post above (the 5.06pm post, which I am talking about), you mention nothing about saying 'this season', if you did please show me, cus i'm on my iPhone atm and it is hard to see sometimes.

Darling, if I based my opinions on what I read in the media i'd be singing Manchester Uniteds praises and i'd be convinced that Wayne Rooney was the next George Best... I base my opinions on matches I watch, recent ones infact, ones I have seen the blatant mouthing of vulgar language from Manchester United players towards the referee and ones where they aren't punished since the peace campaign. Although I forgot you know exactly what I watch/read because you know my own mind better than I do, my mistake!

Immenseman

that was in comparison to drogba. rooney acted nothing like drogba.

it's all well and good not wanting to read the thread but it isn't good not reading the thread then jumping in and making yourself look stupid.

Skajo
19-06-2009, 10:51 PM
I was re-inforcing a point that was made earlier on in the thread to show how much that point has value amongst the members of the forum - that's not stupid, that's what a forum is for in all honesty, Jacob. The fact is, Rooney acted inappropriately and disrespectfully and you protested United players' innocence to which you were wrong. Drogba didn't punch anything, showing signs of real aggression - something which Rooney did - inexcusable.

Wolves

So Drogba pointing in the referees face and shouting at him isn't aggressive?

Not as aggressive as a physical showing of aggression like Rooney's.

Wolves
19-06-2009, 11:06 PM
Rooneys was at a flag, how is that aggressive? footballers punch the flag when they score goals (Cahill), is that aggressive?

Drogba was VERY aggressive, he was swearing at the camera, and the referee actually looked physically shocked and scared because of all the abuse he was taking, especially from Drog and Ballack.

They're as bad as each other, Rooney throws the ball agressively, Ferdinand is aggressive, Rooney threatens and bad-mouths the ref and finally punches the corner flag, AGGRESSIVELY.

Silly nancy boys.

It was no where near as aggressive as Drogba though, that was on a whole different level.

He threw it agressively but he wasnt throwing it anyone, or away from anything, he was throwing it at the spot where he thought the free kick was needed to be taken. The referee just thought Rooney was throwing it at him. And don't say it was the agression that mattered, because Ronaldo can take a free kick agressively, doesn't mean he needs to be carded. But tbh, Rooney can flip but I think that was a bad example.

I love your originality, and I was simply saying that if you can honestly say you think Rooney is half the player George Best was then you clearly can't watch football that often, unless you've never seen Best play? :S

When did I say that you said Rooney was better than Best? :S .. I didn't so you obviously didn't read what I wrote.
You said you think he has the ability to be as good as George Best, I said if you think he's half the player he was, meaning that if you think Rooney could ever be even half as good as George Best then you can't watch very much football.
