Wow.

Even though I use vista and love it that is a bit ridiculous.

"But you'll never find it using boring Safari. (So get rid of it, or get lost.)"

It's a bit extreme. Hey, rather than using IE because of a wonderful () feature set and lovely standards compliance (), let Microsoft pay us to use it!

Out of interest, does anybody know the IE marketshare in Australia?

Edit: Just checked. On 13th of June, they had 51.2% of the market, down from just under 70% last October. Today they are back up to 62.8%.

So they're basically advertising that their browser can't render pages properly...

I don't see it as desperate, just use IE8 to find the money? And then use your other browser once you finished?

i dont rli see the problem

$10,000 is like pennies to them...

And i hate the fact that cause its MS you're all ******** about it, but if firefox was to do it then there would be a thread saying news and advising people to do it? :S

yeah ok then.

I personally can't stand FF, but I also can't stand IE 8, about every other page I'm lcicking the bloody compat. view button; so I use IE7 and won't be changing soon.

A good one at that. Personally I feel IE 7 failed when they decided to redesign the whole thing.

I preferred it when it was the conventional IE from back in the day. As oppose to the over categorised tree menu IE.

One of the reasons why I love FF despite that rather annoyingly it has been crashing frequently with the use of large .swf's

Sounds like a pretty good analysis to me. More money than sense then? :P They should get investing it in improving the browser opposed to trying to convince people to settle for second best (or in this case forth or fifth best :P).

you're all fools.

When Apple was just about to be done with (bankruptcy) Microsoft helped them out of the hole.

Plus, I don't see Apple ever giving stuff away. They gave away that 1,000,000th prize pack. OH wait, that was never given to ANYONE! I checked Google and Apple didn't give it out.

It's just Microsoft having a bit of fun and promoting their browser at the same time, although most of the mac toting idiots in here who can't see past their own little mac world (I have used more operating systems and computers than you've seen in your entire life, so get stuffed with the hurr durr windows fanboy idiocy) seem to just hate Microsoft for being Microsoft, as scottish said, if it were Firefox everyone would be jacking off about it, stop being so biased and just enjoy that they're trying to do something fun and useful with their money, not just sitting about and boasting about how much money they have in the bank, not giving anything back to the people who invest into it like Microsoft and Cisco.

Also IE 8 is CSS and HTML standards compliant so don't even talk about it.

At the end of the day they have the right to advertise their product just like every other company so all this they are desperate stuff is bull****. I have personally used IE most of my life and have never really had any problems with it, as a personal preference for me its Safari > IE > Firefox.

Well I wouldn't loose a leg for it but it's OK :P

If someone said "yo here's an brand new iMac but you have to throw a cow at your PC" i'd probably do it but still I like my OS.

My mind sees that as lies but the website is legitimate. It's not a joke is it with MS? It's the only explaination I can think of for such a random competition :S

You could always just change the useragent on FF to IEs useragent...

Seriously?

I hate Vista, like XP, and might use 7 on my PC machine. However, until Apple screws up with OSX as much as Microsoft has with Windows I certainly will not switch back to Windows as my primary OS:D.

I wouldn't say you're a Windows fanboy... just a blinded fool who can't see past his own ego. But anyway, why don't Microsoft spend more money keeping up with the times, rather than only just with past standards? It might have finally passed the Acid2 test, but it's the worst of mainstream browsers under the Acid3 test.

I'm glad that MS are offering an incentive for people to upgrade (from previous versions of IE), but it's still far from being the strongest browser out there. IE bashing will stop when it stops having bashing points.

Which like every piece of software and browser in the history of ever, will never happen.
