What the hell is going on with i7, it's confusing as hell and there's no answer to just what is going on, is anyone more informed than me about the current situation?
From what I can see it's being largely discontinued apart from the high end / workstation setup and i5 is going to be mainstream etc, is this right?

Whaaaaaat! it's being discontinued????? I find this hard to believe especially since this is intel's new flagship processor for now and there is already motherboards out for it and also what would intrl have to gain from this? yeah sales are not amazing as guess what we're still recovering/being hit by a bowl of credit crunch.

I *think* thats the gist of it, but I don't really know whats going on with it either, there was a MASSIVE thread over at overclock.net about it though a few weeks back.

Hey,
From what I currently understand from the Intel Press release and other information the new processor they are building will replace the i7 line. The new processor (still remains unnamed) is said to be faster, and more innovative.
Intel is said to be making this processor "more advanced" in someway.
