View Full Version : A way to display birthdays.

Well, I was thinking that maybe we could have a bar at the bottom which displayed the users whos birthday it was that day. I know the VIP calender used to be an argument in not having this, but seeing as that's no longer possible it's not valid anymore.

I can see the reasons for not having this, the main one being there isn't really a need for it, however, I feel it would be much nicer if we did know, as no one wants their birthday to be ignored. Obviously there will also be a large number of unactive users who have their birthdate entered on the forum, but we could simply just ignore these and just pay attention to the active users :)

I think it would be a nice little addition to the forum as sometimes it's just nice to make someones day a little bit better :)

How would you simply just ignore the inactive members birthday?

By only congratulating the people you know are active, or go on their homepage and see the last time they logged in? Pretty simple really.

Yeah I agree with you Rozi, it would be a nice introduction and would improve the atmosphere of the forum.

It's very easy for us to filter the birthdays displayed for the active members only.

If there is enough interest in this I will reintroduce this.

Considering there are 30 000+ members and a mere 365 days in a year I imagine it would be a lot to load on the page :P

Don't you have access to the panels that can activate it?

The panel of course however I believe he wants to insert some custom code. If it was mission critical we do have other options but in this case I'd rather wait.
