View Full Version : Virtual Dating Ads

It seems Habbo UK has a new advertising campaign featuring flash adverts on websites.
So far I've came across three different adverts, all of them featuring similar styles and slogans.
The thing that particularly surprised me was they're now advertising Habbo as a place for 'virtual dating' which I believe Habbo have refrained from using in the past and never really acknowledged the dating going on in the hotel. They're now using it as a selling point to get people to sign up.
They're also advertising it as a place for online gaming with the likes of free Snowstorm, in the past they've preferred it to be known as a teenager chatroom or online world.
Could mean all sorts of things, perhaps a new direction for Habbo or maybe just a desperation to step into the market of everything considering it's now a teenage chatroom, virtual dating, online gaming and part social networking.

virtual date? my god.
Virtual dating but you'll be banned for heavy petting ;)
Well the fact that SS+BB are gone on BETA doesn't go to well with these ad's although on the BETA poll i did today it asked weather to bring them back or not. As for the dating it was an option wether to be able to "Hug and/or hold hands with other habbos" so it is a step in the direction of virtual love making. Which i never really expected to see!
Watch this space i think is all we can say.

I've seen these ads, what goes through my head is that if I was a parent and saw those I wouldn't want my child playing Habbo. I think if they are official Habbo adverts then Habbo need to rethink their advertising strategies.
I support your opinion Melissa.

Over 100 million registered users, over 8 million unique users every month and operated by a multi-million dollar company. I don't think they need advice from a 16 y/o girl, they're doing quite well as it is.

I don't know why they bother with it in the first place it only attracts the wrong type of people, and soon it will be overrun even more with pervy teenagers and who knows older people?

And I've seen these everywhere. Infact, as I type there's on right above the typing box saying: Virtual hearts, Real Valentines.
And why do they dress them up in the most UGLIEST clothes? Lol. It's not going to atract as many people? Most of the adverts I've seen are about love. It makes it seem girly and would probably put people off...
(Especially gullable people who would probably think it's a dating site :P)
