A Swedish court has thrown out a request for a retrial by the four men behind The Pirate Bay website.

The four were found guilty of promoting copyright infringement in April and face jail sentences and hefty claims for damages.

The Pirate Bay's lawyers called for a retrial when it emerged that one of the judges in the case belonged to several copyright protection groups.

The Swedish court said the judge's affiliations did not bias the case.
Tis a sad day for Pirates... Yarr

How does this affect people who use TPB? It's never going to shut down - and I couldn't care less about the owners going to jail...

Me neither, though I don't really download copyrighted stuff or at least use ThePirateBay so doesn't overally effect me. I can see why they're doing it though (the courts).

It's not the people and whether TPB will be affected, it's what they stand for that you should care about them being imprisoned for.

I download stuff but the fact is they should be imprisoned. They have cost the industry many millions and at the end of the day, whatever way you look at it, its basically stealing.

I thought they just moved on to suing the country for a violation of the human rights? I suspect there legal rang-lings are far from over.

That's what I last heard too, because Sweden/Switzerland (same thing :P) don't have rules against it so technically the individual companies and groups aren't at fault, just the country in general.
