Good Tennis Coach?

So recently (well about a few hours ago) I decided I wanted to do a new sport, move on from boxing and take up tennis. I used to play alot in primary school (THATS WAAAY BACK) and I actually really enjoyed it.

Now I played it, just trying to hit the ball. Well I was actually quite frightened of the ball when I was in primary school but it was enjoyable.

I didnt understand much of the rules to tennis, sets, games etc but my dad taught me through them and now tennis is like the BEST THING EVER.

So I decided to start tennis because I wanted to anyway but Wimbledon REALLY inspired me. I mean its just so interesting. So Im looking for a good coaching club... in Manchester but it must be quite close. No place that will take me about 2 hours to get to. I dont mind the price much but can anyone find me one? Or more so I have a bit of a choice. I would also prefer the coach to be a proffesional and not some random guy who knows about tennis. I want a good one and hopefully I'll be good at it lol.

But yh, I've overcome the scariness of the ball and I am quite happy with my tennis knowledge and games. I just REALLY want this possibly some day I might get into the proffesionals and maybe even wimbledon (well not exactly wimbledon lol)

I used to live really close to a tennis place, and got some coaching, and then I just couldn't be bothered going :P
Just, go down yourself. Go for a session and see if you like the coaching/enjoy it. If not, try another one.
It's all personal preference :D

you're too old now to be even thinking about becoming professional, people start from a very young age at pretty much everything now days.

the attitude you have is crap aswell. you want a professional coach, yet you don't want to travel, good luck.

fair enough if you want to get good, do it casually and have fun, but you won't get anywhere.

and it's probably only because wimbledon is on you want to play, it's what most people do. loads of courts around here have been full the last week. but when wimbledon dies down, so will your desire to play tennis. you probably don't follow any other tournaments.

I love Tennis so I play regularly anyway but the Grand Slams and TV coverage is the only reason you want to do it.
At the moment you're scared of the ball... You're on this forum so obviously in your teens and want to "get into the proffesionals and maybe even wimbledon"

Play because you want to not because you've got a fantasy idea of that you could make it.

I disagree, if he's good enough and committed to making his dream happening then i can't see why he couldn't play at Wimbledon one day...

Maybe he would have to travel a bit if he wants to become a professional tennis player, if you want something bad then you'll do anything to make sure want you want becomes a realilty.. It just depends on how much he wants it.

Maybe he won't play at Wimbledon until he's in his 20's but if he's good
enough and committed to developing himself into a good player then i couldn't see why he won't be playing at W before he reaches his 20's peak.

Don't exactly agree with where you there when you said he probably wanted to only play because of Wimbledon.. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't but i'm sure there's loads of young footballers out there who's dream is to play football and play in the Champions league...

Thats not true. Im not too old. If I'm good and really try in about 7 years I could start tournaments... Ive seen professionals that are 29+ and they are still playing? And about my attitude? It really isnt my fault I cant travel far. If I had my own car then I would...

Amd as for the last part I did actually say it was because of Wimbledon and I wanted to start a new sport...

And I'm not starting at a PRO coach straight away. For a few months maybe even a year I can go to a decent one that teachs you all you need to know and then hopefully move on...

I AM NOT scared of the ball. I said I was when I was like 7-8. And like I already said it doesnt matter about my age. How do you know if I wont get in pro's or not? Dont judge a book by its cover.

How on earth would you know if he couldn't make it? He's young and anything isn't impossible... By saying oh you'll never make it will make anyone confidence levels go right down.

A bit of support and say just go for it you never know what can happen would of been nice instead of putting him down saying he'll have no chance of making it.

As far as i can see it your just jealous. :)

1) He's telling this guy the truth - he won't make it. Better to say it now than say in a year's time when he's wasted a year training only to discover that he won't make it in the big time.

2) Oh please don't be so pathetic. How do we know this guy's not ****? You have to be extremely skilled at tennis to get into the ATP World Tour (if that's what your aiming for here).
