My new N97 arrived yesterday so I thought I would post on here telling people about it, in case people are unsure about whether or not to get it.

Good Points:

The phone looks AWESOME, nice big touch screen, modern design etc.
Good 5MP camera, the quality of the pictures actually seems better than the LG Viewty (phone I had before), although this is probably due to the N97 having a better quality screen to view the pictures.
Ovi store will be really good... when I start using it (I have been to busy playing around with random features and texting to download anything from the Ovi store)
The full qwerty keyboard is VERY easy to get used to, I started using the phone at about half 4 yesterday (Tuesday) and can already write a whole page text in about 15 seconds, its amazing how much quicker it is than texting on a normal phone keypad.
Home screen widgets are great, you can have Facebook, local weather, iPlayer, Amazon, Email, AP News, Music Player, Hi5, favorite contacts etc and you can download new ones.
One feature I thought was really cool is remote lock, basically you set a message and a passcode, when any number texts you that exact message your phone locks until the passcode is entered, this would be helpful if someone stole your phone.
Touch screen is very responsive, the screen itself feels very high quality compared to other resistive touch screens.
Nokia Maps is very good, I have never had a GPS phone be able to find my location because I live in a very rural place, but the N97 did, it found the exact house too which impressed me.
The phone has WiFi which is good ifyou fancy going on the Ovi store to download stuff while your at home, because you wont have to pay for data charges

Bad Points:

The vibrate mode isnt very strong at all, personally I like to leave it on the strongest vibrate mode with silent mode activated so that I can feel my phone go off, even if I am walking or something but the Nokia only has 1 vibrate option which is very weak. Also if the phones on charge it doesnt vibrate at all, which is very annoying if you have it on silent mode!
The phone is very expensive, it took a lot of looking around to find one at a reasonable price, I got mine on an 18 month contract with Orange, 600 minutes and Unlimited texts for £35 a month and I had to pay £50 for the phone.
Battery cover is really difficult to get off (I know thats petty but its worth saying)
I have got to check into this more, but im quite sure that this phone could end up costing me a lot in data charges, if you have stuff like facebook / weather on your homepage then they automaticly update every so often, I am going to ring Orange and find out about this.

Thats all I can think of for now, if you want to know anything else reply to the thread and Il try to answer it.

I'm, sure theres a setting for that vibrate thing? I think nowadays really with just about every phone you need a data plan, I would ring Orange ASAP about that, but thats for putting this up, it will certainly come in handy.

Iv looked everywhere and cant find the setting. I will read the manual thing for it later and see what it says :)

EDIT:
Just phones Orange, I get Unlimited evening and weekend browsing free for 2 months, after which I can go onto a plan where I get 500mb for £5

No its mine :D:D

It is a very good phone though I would recommend it.

Another thing I like is that the PC suit comes with a software update tool, so if bugs are found, Nokia can fix them and send them through as an update.

You can also update the software directly through the phone, although I expect this wont be as quick

You'd be surprised, if you're connected to WiFi it'll be quicker, and that software updater is standard across all Nokia phones :P

I'm not sold on the looks tbh, something about it shouts "low quality" at me. I'm not sure why, maybe the lack of anything shiny... that probably speaks more about me than the phone :P Or maybe I'm just too used to looking at my omnia which has shiny stuff all over the front of it!

I played with this phone in the 3 Store and I was blown away, its such a nice phone. Was surprised at how fast it was, considering some of the previous models were so slow.

S60 v5 is incredibly speedy compared to other S60 versions. Hopefully the next 5800 upgrade will bring widgets and stuff like on the N97.

Paying £34.25 p/month for this along with £98 for the handset. Arriving tomorrow. 750 mins & unlmtd texts. Probably get some sort of internet add-on like I did with the N95.

Do you think it could be an iPhone rival? That's what my uncle thinks, he says it's really good and possibly better. :P

Nokia are coming out with all sorts of iPhone killers now, especially with their new Ovi app store and "Comes with Music" range IMO.
