View Full Version : What Do I Choose?
Im Saving Up For A Console But I Dont Know What To Get.
DSI: i will have the practicality of carrying it around with me and aslo play games that dont come out on ps3 or xbox 360.
Price: £175 (around that)
PS3: i will have better grapthics and also better games also more online action on games but wont feel right playing it on a small tv + will take a while to save up for.
Price: £300 (nearly)
XBOX 360: i will have a cheaper version of a ps3 but i will have to pay for the online gaming + will have to get use to controler and same thing about tv problem + then theres the problem with the red ring od death + the E74 code or what ever it is.
Price: £240 (around that)
any advice would be very grateful as it will help me choose.

Right DSI = no no no.. You will get bored for sure. I have the DS which I've given to my sister cus I hated it after a week.
PS3 = I have this, it's great and you're right its got better games and better graphics. But its worth it to save up.
Xbox 360 = I hate this...
Right ok If you get an Xbox which you say is £240 then if you buy all the accessories, like wireless and hdd or w.e right? Adapter is what around £60 live a year is £40 so you would play for around 3 years? Hypothetically. So it would be a total of £420 in the long term
So if you get a ps3 you will buy a few accessories, headset, extra controller & hdmi cable. Which would be around £70 so £370 in total.
If you take these things into account then PS3 is the best option
I wasn't typing properly so I hope it makes sense. I hate my keyboard

I honestly reckon Live is worth it (I've had it for about a year now). I reckon the DSi best suits your needs right now. Just MO though.

Simmzays kinda right, what are you looking for in the console? After all you want one. Don't agree about getting the DSi though...

In short: I am a sony fanboy that only plays mature games for mature gamers, such as myself.
There is nothing wrong with the DS or DSI if you like fun adventure games and story driven games instead of SHOOTIN SHOOTIN SHOOTIN
Also, I think they fxed RROD if you buy a new 360, not used.

Used to be a PS fanboy but ive totally changed my way lol
The xbox 360 has the best exclusives and est live play, the ps3 has no cost for onlkine but isnt as good, this winter xbox gets sky facebook twitter and lots more features.
I'm not to sure on the PS3 so it may sound a bit biased (sorry) but i would seriously go for the 360 for a better gamin experience

The HDD comes with the console so you don't have to buy that, the xbox comes with a controller, some offers mean you get 2 controllers, you can get up to 4 games with some offers, the wireless adapter only matters if you can't connected wired and you don't HAVE to get gold, xbox live silver is free you just can't play online, really you only have to buy the console, which as you stated was £240 or something, with the wireless adapter it's £300, if you want xbox live you can get 3 months which is like £7, 6 months which is £17 or something I think or 12 months for around £40, that still leaves it at £340 so I have no idea where you got £420 from.
Being the only person that has both here so far I think I would have to say xbox is the better option, I preferred Sony when it was PS2 and Xbox but the 360 is just better this time in my opinion, the live community is better than the PS3, I don't care what anyone says, it is, it has the better selection of games and I find it's better value for money, since with the PS3 unless you have a HDTV you have a useless blu-ray player really, xbox is better if you want racing games, FPS games and RPG games, not really sure what you can get from PS3 that isn't better on xbox to be honest but yea, only advantage PS3 has is bigger disks.
dbgtz

Urrm the live "community" is only "better" because its been out longer.
PS3 will have a much larger fps (mag) game then xboxs so that will be better. GT5 is probably the only good ps3 racing game though. Also lbp is good if you like to create random stuff. Really all the good fps are multi-console.
Also blu-ray isn't useless without a hdtv. If you look at most ps3 exclusives the size would be too large for xboxs old dvd discs. Also the money for live goes towards moderation lol.
The only reason people say ps3s are expensive is because not everyone can afford it at this point coz of the recession. If you think about it really, it is quite cheap for what you get. I mean alot of blu-ray players are equal price to ps3, or more. So ps3 is much more worth the money and has a bigger monthly sales. The only reason 360 has more is because it was out alot before. I bet in a years time, ps3 will be dominant.
Also we have alot of games 360 people want, but not many ps3ers want 360 games.
@Neil, hes added 3 years worth of live.
ALSO ps3 can already go on twitter and facebook via the web browser. Besides, you can't play games and watch sky at the same time. Chances are you have sky or virgin already so. PS3 has a lot more into it then people think.
You are the most biased person I've ever met on this forum, everything you say is just ridiculous so yea, I'm not gonna start a fight on this one, you need to learn the PS3 isn't THAT good, the xbox has way more than the PS3 does, I don't really care what you *think* I have both and I know first hand what both consoles can do and what ones are better, also I could not leave this one alone;
"Also we have alot of games 360 people want, but not many ps3ers want 360 games."
What on Earth are you talking about?
I'm sure you'll find quite a few PS3 owners that would like the Halo series, Fable, Gears of War, PGR, Forza, there is not a single PS3 game I would like on the 360 because the 360 has variations of just about every PS3 game out.

Im not a "sony fanboy" I just don't like the 360, my opinion and my taste. Yes I play mature games, I do play fun adventure games as well. and I'm not all SHOOTIN SHOOTIN SHOOTIN. i do play strategy, adventure and things like that. You are way off the marker assuming I am like this. I played DS games, and I found them boring. It didn't grip me. Mario Kart was the best on the DS but with the PS3 you have a wider range and thats what a like, A VARIETY.
And I've played the Xbox, its good, but I dont like it... Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and thats what I'm doing
@ Neil - I was estimating so if it is cheaper my mistake I apologise.
I agree with you saying that Xbox has good games yet the ps3 has such games aswell. I reckon xbox and ps3 have different qualities and thats what makes them unique.
But what can I say, I don't like the Xbox, I prefer the Ps3. no im not a fanboy ;l I haven't owned an Xbox but I've played it frequent enough to get to know it, and comparing them I find ps3 better. But thats my opinion I guess :)

Ye but mgs is like one of those games that alot of xboxers wanted, you only get the bad spin off.
Also I own both a 360 and ps3.
In all honesty its a matter of opinion but both consoles have some things better then the other, but some things are equal.

No, MGS is one that some xbox owners wanted, I for one have always thought of it to be a terrible waste of time, also you can't say it's a bad spin off when it hasn't even left development yet.
Could be better than MGS4 for all you know.

From GAME.co.uk;
Sony PlayStation 3 80GB Console with Infamous and Killzone 2 (http://www.game.co.uk/PS3/Hardware/HardwareBundle/~r342457/Sony-PlayStation-3-80GB-Console-with-Infamous-and-Killzone-2/) (or LBP or MotorStorm 2) is £299.99
Needed extra's to match other console: Extra controller: £34.99
Total price: £334.98
From Gamestation.co.uk
Xbox 360 60GB Premium Pack, Burnout Paradise, Trivial Pursuit, Connect 4, an extra controller and Call of Duty 4 (Xbox 360) is £199.99
Needed extra's to match other console: Xbox Live (Online Play) 12 Month: £34.99, Wireless Adaptor: £59.99, 2x Plug & Charge kits: £29.98
Total Price: £324.95 (+£34.99 every 12 months for Xbox Live renewal)
Total price
You may say you don't need the Plug & Charge kits, but the PS3 controllers have rechargeable batteries and cables as standard, so I put them there.
Personally I think the price for that Xbox on its own is amazing, and you may not need the Wireless Adaptor if you don't have Wireless in your house.

Ye but I'm guessing because the guy (hideo kojima) isn't really involved with it, so it'll probably be bad. I bet a fiver it'll be poor.
Also to the prices, bare in mind the ps3 one is 20gb higher and has the web browser, blu-ray etc. It's like a pc.
I only have 18gb left of my 80gb lol :S.

Infact, Xbox has better graphics and audience intuition. There is the fee of live but hey, the connection is much better than the PS3's live server.

I believe the Xbox 360 may have a bigger FPS however the graphics on both are incredibly good and hardly worth comparing. Majority of games these days on both consoles have awesome graphics and are 1080p.
@Post Above - You cannot compare connections, both have good connections, it more depends on your connection and the hosts connection.

Yes the PS3 has **** connection, Xbox has great connection you hardly lagg/dc. There's only a couple more good features, but is that worth £40 a year?

What he said.
The 360 is and always has been better than the PS3. The only reason to buy a PS3 is the hot exclusives coming out/ already out (LBP, Batman Arkham Asylum DLC, GOWIII, GT5, MGS4 and many many many more), they're all worth it. Even if it does mean buying the PS3.

Not really. Id like to see your findings to why ps3 is worse then 360 when it's not in most cases.
thanks for all the reviews and opitions of the consoles ive now gone off the dsi and now im stuck between the ps3 and xbox 360
down sides and upsides that was said before.
PS3:
i know alot of mates with ps3 so i can play them online + i like the games on the ps3 the only games id like to play that i know of on the xbox 360 is halo serires i have owned a ps3 before and i like the fact u can use the browser and that but i dont like the price ye it was said about a blu ray player but tbh i dont see the differance between normal and blu ray so it would be wasted on me lol.
one thing i want to know is the 80GB PS3 able to play PS2 games or was that only part of a limited amount of 60GB PS3's?
XBOX 360:
i dont know that many people on xbox i dont mind paying the charge of the cost of gold membership as its just a one off payment each year which is nout really if u think about the amount i will use it.
one thing i want to know is with the membership does it mean u dont need to buy boradband to play online or do u still need to pay that as well as the mebership to play online?

no, you still have to have a broadband connection to play on xbox live as well as xbox live gold subscription.
if i was you i would go for the one which most of your mates have as its fun playing with them.
But if i was to say a console it would be 360 due to me being familiar with it and most of my mates have it and i just prefer.
how about a wii they are really not fun
wii's i hate them there so impractical i like stragaey games not ones where it can be messed up by just moving wrong
i might just get a ps3 see what others say
Learn how to spell and use capital letters & punctuation please.
Anyway's if your friends have PS3, then get that. Much better playing your mates. And yes, the new revision's don't play PS2 games.

Sorry, but why the hell wouldn't you have to pay for broadband because you've payed for a gaming service?

and as for the broadband thing it could have a built in modem and then use a phone line to connect to a sever which then allows the connection to the interent it was just a question i had.

I'd probably go for PS3 then if your mates use it, but if you're not going to play on the same games as them I wouldn't let it influence your decision.
If it comes down to money then the Xbox 360 is the clear choice, and although Xbox 360's may cost a bit more than the initial price because of the live subscription, you don't pay a big sum at once cause you can just update Live membership when you want, it's not like when you buy it you must by 3 years of live membership.
As for strategy games, it's quite well known that PCs are far superior for strategy games but the PS3 and Xbox 360 both have things like Command & Conquer: Red Alert and Tom Clancy's End War. However the PS3 doesn't have Halo Wars which is an awesome strategy game, especially if you like the Halo series.
jordy u put a valid point accross then now im more leaning towards a xbox 360 coz the saw game that i wanna play when it comes out as well is coming out on xbox 360 as well as ps3 but xbox would be faster to get so im unsure lol
i cant do pc coz i only got a laptop and i cant be bothered getting a desktop as well as a laptop and my laptops not built for high spec games so hence why im after a console.
