Going thorpe park with school..
So suggest me where to go first as its my first time in years that i've been to thorpe park, I want to go on SAW but so many people are going on to it, so I'd leave that for later. Is it worth getting fast track for some rides, like stealth & SAW?
:)

yeah, probably. have fun! will be busy but not too busy because kids will still be in school. there will be other schools there at that time of the year and year 11 and year 13 students etc.

I'm pretty sure its a day for school kids only but maybe not. Thanks I will take in the rides that you've told me into consideration, its just the fact about the demand and what people go on.
Thanks, hope I do have fun :)
Edit @Ryan, I'm just thinking that I would have to wait about 3 hours to go on it cus theres so many from my year wanting to go on it first. and the fact that a whole load of other schools are coming, and the odds are that they too will want to go on SAW so yeah if the queues short I'll go on that first.
Fast track is what £20-£30?
Rep to you all except Immenseman - need to spread

Just a note of warning, it will be EXTREMELY busy, to the extent that you will get on minimal rides, and it's very unlikely that you'll get on Saw, due to the fact that this time of the year is the busiest because of school trips/summer etc.
If you have the money, then get Fast track, if not, enjoy it anyway, you're there, so you may as well have fun. :D

Half term is slightly different to the end of school time/summer. :P
And Alton Towers is different to Thorpe Park, as Thorpe is in London, and Alton is in like the countryside. ;)

I went a few weeks ago to Thorpe Park so i have a few tips!
It won't be that busy trust me. People said it will be completely packed when I went, but I got on every ride (and I'm not even overstating, I actually wen't on pretty much all of them) except Nemesis, which had a huge que so I recommend if your going early, go on that first. Stealth has a big que, but it goes very fast because the ride is only 20 seconds, and i'm not even joking and I got on that twice.
Don't underestimate the main water ride, It will get you absolutly soaked so if you are prepared to walk around the rest of the day drenched then go on it,, if not then don't or bring spare clothes to change into. Also, don't wear jeans if you go on that ride.
Don't get too into saw, it is a let down really and isn't as good as people think, but nevertheless it's still decent. The fast track is about 3 pounds a ride I think, so yes, it's worth getting the fast track for the big 4 rides: Stealth, Saw, Nemisis and Colossus, but you have to stick to your times so it might be a problem if your going in a big group.
That's all the advice I can think off really, but enjoy it, its a great day out and yeah stealth is the best ride there but it's pretty scary and very fast at the beggining, so when you shoot off at first, be prepared to hold onto something tight and keep your head back, but the view at the top is amazing.
Oh, and there is a great donut shop in there so I recommend them too when you leave :)!
Have Fun and I hope that helped! :) If you have any other questions PM me!

Ty Ty +rep to all replies - Tomorrow given out too much in 24 hrs...
Anyway, so fast track is cheap then? How much do you recommend to take?
I hate water rides... I hate getting soaked but I might go on that first and then go on all the quick rides to get dry but meh.
I'm really excited about SAW so I hope its not a let down.
So stealth is quick.. ok noted I'll go on that later in the day.
I will get fast track hopefully, I asked my mate about fast track he said that theres no point as the queues are the same which I'm confused about
Anyway thanks for the tips and I will PM you if I have further questions :)

Key point in bold...
It will be packed, as it's now summer, and that day is the main day for school trips. You went a few weeks ago, like I did, so it's no surprise that it wasn't packed when you went.

If it wasn't summer a few weeks ago then it isnt summer now I guess.. Most people get off skl around a couple of weeks ago and if it wasnt packed then what makes you say it will be packed now?

When I went, all the GCSE kids had broke up, and all the A Level kids had broken up. Good point though, it will be more packed then when I went but if you get there nice and early it isn't a big problem. There were no ques whatsover when I got there in the morning to actually get into the park, which was at about 11ish so If you get there at 10/11 you should skip the entry ques.
Saw isn't a big let down, but it's not as good as the advertisements show, but it's still good itself.
Money wise, it depends. I brought £45 and spent it all, and I also had half price tickets to get in. It costs £35 to get in unless you have vouchers, and if you do it costs £17.50. It cost me £15 to get there, from London including the taxi to and from the station - the park, but if your going with your school it shouldn't cost you much going there and getting back depending on where you live. Also, I didn't buy fast track myself, but I have to say, it would be better for you if you did as it's worth it.
The water ride is something which looking back I wouldn't have done really as it's over quickly, and the only thrill is when you are going down into the water and after you regret it, but it was worth the experience I suppose as I don't go to thorpe park often lol. You do dry off quickly too, well after about 1 hour your dry so yeah.
Fast track ques are quicker, a lot quicker. For SAW, the normal que took 45 mins, the fast track took 5. Colossus was similar for both, mainly because the normal que was quiet short but if it is long, which it can be, fast track is useful. For Stealth fast track was good but it's not that useful as the normal que goes quite quickly and for nemisis its good, so you wanna get fast track for SAW, and Nemisis really, but you can get a package for all 4 big rides which is quite good.

At colleges/schools near me, they have and I live in London, which is next to Thorpe Park. I'm talking about 18 year old A Level students, not AS Students who are still in school.

I payed £24 coach and ticket. So the fasttrack that I am looking for is £9 for the colussus ride, no way out etc. and £4 for stealth, which is £13 so about £25 in total.

Right so it may be packed, since schools are going. But usually we get there early so I hope I beat the queues. Anyway I think it should be empty enough... As in empty enough so that the queues are ok not long.

Yea, take about £25. Go on SAW First then if your going to get those fast-tracks. Also, Tidal Wave is the one you get soaked on, Loggers Leap you don't get wet at all really. Loggers Leap isn't a ride, it's just a ride down a stream or something in a group, Tidal Wave is a proper ride.

Fast Track only allows one ride, unless you have the unlimited pass (which costs £50 by the way)! :P
And there is Fast Track for Saw. At least there was when I was there, it just doesn't say it on their site.
CHA!NGANG
04-07-2009, 07:46 PM
Yeah, I think there is one for Saw because I saw the que but I didn't see it on the site. And yeah, it allows one ride on each of the rides stated, but honestly you only need to go on the big ones once. The unlimitted one could be good if you share it with a mate. could pay 10 pounds between 5 of you and go one by one, I'm not sure if you can get away with that or not but ye.
Dusty-09

Paying for fast track on the day is it long to buy it?
How much for the SAW fast track?
I might as well just pay for fast track on the other rides and go on SAW another time when it is empty like, when everyone is gna be on holiday or go with my mates from outside of school
Anyway
I will pick one of 3 options:
1) Buy fast track for the main rides - Colussus Nemesis Tidal Wave X no way out stealth and SAW and go on the silly rides
Rides in this order
Tidal Wave
SAW
X no way out
Nemesis
Stealth
Colussus
All other gd rides like samurai or something
2) Don't buy fast track and go on the rides which are short
3) Go on all the rides but have fast track for certain rides, as I'm not sure I have enough money as I've spent like £100 on paintballing.
Anyway , last question can u buy fastrack in the middle of the day?
jackass
04-07-2009, 09:37 PM
I'm like 99% sure that you can buy it in the middle of the day, if they aren't sold out.
And X:\No Way Out is hardly a main ride?
The main rides really are Saw, Stealth, Nemesis Inferno and Colossus. I guess Tidal Wave and Detonator are pretty main too.

I went Thorpe Park on Thursday, was very busy. Stealth was closed because of the heat, and Saw kept breaking down, and when it was working the que was stupid they had to get extra barriers to cope with it, (the same as collosus). And the Fastpasses where sold out in no time and couldnt even buy one for Saw, So its probably best bet to head for the ride you want first.

Thorpe Park - Review
Fast Track:
All in all fast track was worth it and handy. If I didn't have it, I'd probably be waiting for a long long time. So the maximum time I had to wait was 20 minutes for Nemesis.
Food:
Expensive but tasty but I didn't think it was worth the price it was being charged at due to lack of quality
Fun:
I had amazing fun and I wasn't expecting a great day, the rides, the weather (although some drizzle which made it better on some rides) and everything was great!
Weather:
Stayed hot but some random showers here and there but it didn't affect us at all.
Rides:
The rides were amazing and adrenaline pumping. I thought they were great and I will go back there soon!
Overall:
I would give it 9/10, queues were short, weather was ok, it wasn't extremely packed but the worst thing was how Stealth and Nemesis had broken down and had to be repaired which wasted 1 hour of our time. Also we had to leave 3 hours early which was a load of ******** imo but all in all a great day
Thanks for the advice without your guys help I don't think it would've been as enjoyable :)

LOL we went on the same day!
Yea it was raining badly, I got soaking wet! LOL
Was an awesome day though!!
Food & drink were expensive like £1.50 for a 70p coke..
Detonator was annoying since we was allowed to go on it, then it never worked so they made us go off, and the engineer was working with no care in the world, but we got a free fast-track to compensate. ;D

Glad you had fun :)! I stayed right until 6, and even then didn't leave the actual place until 7. Rain doesn't matter too much, especially if you go on Tidal wave, but it does hurt a bit on stealth if its bad rain because of the speed your going and the fact your going straight into it.
