Thats a load of rubbish in my opinion
Why would provisional license go up to 21.
You can get it at like 16 and you need it to ride a ped.
If it goes up to 21 nobody will be able to drive until there 21.

its something to do with what year you was born in

say you just left year 11 (like me) and you were born in 1992, you will be able to do your test before 18. if you were born in 1993 (like me) you will be able to do your driving test when you're 18.

^^ i think.

Thats why i'm thinking you do your test when your 18 then because i just left year 11 and born in 1993. I've always thought Provisional at 17 driving test at 18 :)

yeah someone said if you're born before 22nd december 1992 you'll be allowed to start while you're 17, mine is 19th :eusa_danc but you'd think if they were definitely going ahead with it they would have spoke about it way before it happened

Tbh it's worth getting one ASAP anyway coz it's useful for night clubs aswell. Round here it's challange 25 now so if you look under 25 years old you have to give ID. I had no problem until last week and the only ID I had was my citizens car which they don't accept lol.

Also it's best to send off for it now because it always rises in prices. Twas £48 the other year, its gone up to £50 now.

hmm, i need a job.

ive got a £20 month contract on my phone, ive got a bank account with about £125 in, im earning £72 a month and I spend it as soon as I get it. My bill is due to be paid on the 15th of this month, then i'll need to save up a bit to get the £50 for provisional.

You should look at alternatives instead of going on a contract. Try Tesco Mobile.. Top up £10 and you get £20 free credit... I don't know how you use your phone so i don't know if this would work.

You probs on a 12 month contract right?

umm £20 is still like
200 texts?

£20 a month on contract is like unlimited texts nd minutes.

You can apply for your Provisional 3 months before your 17th Birthday. You cannot learn to drive a car until you turn 17. At this stage you can pass your test at 17 and be allowed to drive.

It has been debated to higher the driving age and speculated all over, however it is not going t happen for the time being, you would easily know about it if it were to change.

Normally, for car drivers, the earliest date your provisional licence can become valid is your 17th birthday, however you can apply for the licence up to three months before your 17th birthday.

Yeh what happens is you apply for a moped provisional (£50) and then when you're 17 they give you a car provisional for free (AFAIK)

I was going to link to that as well.

Rumours about the driving age increasing have been around for ages. And like the website says, there are no plans at all.

Heres something for this thread:

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Learner-Drivers-And-Novice-Motorists-Should-Face-Stricter-Regulations-According-To-A-New-Survey/Article/200907215332508?lpos=UK_News_Third_Home_Page_Artic le_Teaser_Region__4&lid=ARTICLE_15332508_Learner_Drivers_And_Novice_Mo torists_Should_Face_Stricter_Regulations_According _To_A_New_Survey

Now wouldn't that be interesting if they did that... My opinion is they should, you gotta be mean sometimes. Shame the government would NEVER enforce this because they're worried about alienating the youths and losing the election. pathetic.

yoshi, you're saying you can apply for a provisional 3 months before you're 17, I applied for mine when I was 16 and a few months, and got it. I didn't drive a moped or anything (as they're stupid, slow and annoying) but I just got it to save the fuss. I started learning to drive when I was 17 and passed in a month or so. although you can get your provisional when you're 16, you can't drive until you're 17.

Is an intensive course where you learn it all in a day/week for about £600?

Yeah, some courses you have to sit in with other drivers as well. My instructor says they are not very productive.

nah, I just did a lot of driving with my dad/uncle. I used to drive farm vehicles and vans around the work yard so I had a basic level of competence behind the wheel. was more like a month and a half- a bit more, ish.. less than 2 months anyway.
