To be honest I didnt like it much. The place was far to long and confusing. It was massive, like never ending! It took me and another 4 people 2 hours to find one ride! We all ended up arguing and 1 went of on his own and 2 left us. So I was left with my best friend! Like I said, the place is ENORMOUS but the queues were outragous! For rides like "The Oblivion" and "Air" it was never ending! Two of my friends only went on those two rides because they didnt have enough time! And we came there at 10:30 and had to leave at 5pm. So Thats like 6 and a half hours and they only managed to go on two rides because of the queues! We kept on getting lost, going to the wrong places even though we had a map. And as for my best friend he really annoyed me! I was asking him "What ride do ya wanna go on" he said "Im hungry! BURGER KING" even though we ate like an hour ago! A whole KFC Zinger Meal plus some other stuff! So we were walking around for about another 2 hours deciding where to go and all he kept on doing was moaning about KFC/Burger King! So I said, FINE GET SOME CHIPS! So he did and that made him shut up! We only went on about 5 rides because even for like baby rides and really crap rides, the queues were enormous.
I excpected something a little more from Alton Towers. I would of preffered to go to Camelot which I have been going for 6 years running. I was tired like HELL! I still cant feel my legs! :@

Can you not get a fast track at alton towers? Or is that only in America?

Ahh I'm going there in a few weeks D;
Yeah the Queues are NUTS. You get fast passes but in Disney they're free, at AT they aint! Last time I went with my school and we got in an hour before the public did so I went on Air 8 times lol :P I hate the queues though, might buy the fast track thing... As for food, I just don't bother.

not a lot but i don't see how they help that much anyway, because, loads of people get them
it's just like joining another big queue to be honest lol

The queues at those theme parks are totally insane. They shouldn't let so many people in the park at once tbh
I love alton towers i have been on every ride in the park lol i don't find it hard and confusing at all but i can see what you mean you could easily get lost if you didn't know your way around. I think it's good once or twice but once you've done everything the rides are fairly tame. Thorpe Park is amazing rides and everything

Alton towers is great, but i suppose knowing it helps.
My top 3 tips would probably be;
1) Get a map - then you wont be lost.
2) Use the skylift, the park itself is huge -you could spend a day in the gardens alone (which is bad when you do so after a wrong turn)
3) Do the big rides ether at the very begining (when the park opens) or the very end. The ques are shortest then.
@luccy - yea Thorpe Park's really come along, alot of nice new rides (stealth is great + tidel wave is epic) - saw ive yet to get on. Although nemisis is still probs my favorite ride, reita and oblivion are both a bit of a let down IMO though, stealth combines both and is much more worth it :P

The reason Alton Towers stays afloat is:
1) Cram in people for half price, equals the same amount as paying full price;
2) More people = more queues, people buy fast track then;
3) Whilst waiting people will buy food, more monies;
4) They give out those photo tokens for people who want pictures of themselves for free, cash in on good photos throughout the park.
Mmm I'll think of a few others, but this is basically how they earn money and why they'll never stop forcing people in. It's a good theme park n all, but yknow thats the problem, nowadays you're better to go to a less popular theme park, or get up proper early and leave there proper late.
I noticed with Fast track in Thorpe Park, wait till nearer the end of the day and cram in all your rides. I went on every ride in the space of 2 hours cuz of Fast Track, went on a few of the rollercoasters twice, went on Stealth like 5 times LMAO. You just gotta time it right, most of the fast track ppl go home earlier.
Would probably be the same for Alton Towers tbh. You should even try checking when they sell Fast Track cuz I bought Fast Track for Alton Towers on eBay (vouchers are valid for all year tbh) and they wern't selling it on the day, so I got into Fast Track for free. They can't deny you it cuz yknow, you've bought it. :]]]
Hm theme park lecture, niice.
It was really good when I went, the queues weren't that big and the rides were fantastic. Try and go when it isn't summer time lol.

I've been to Alton Towers a couple of times, tbh the best bit is just being able to hang out with your mates and persaude the scared ******** people to get on rides LOL

At Disney they are free you go to the machine, and it gives u a time say 2 hours from then you go at the time on your ticket. they only give a small amount for each time to regulate the que's

Alton towers is cool.. But the queues are horrible, we spent an hour queueing for rita, and it's over in like seconds, Best thing to do is get the tickets when they'reon special with like the sun or something, because then you get in an hour before opening, get the good rides over with, and then the rest of the day to queue for the not so popular rides, or the rides you've already been on!

going durin july-september is a bad idea cause u r gonna get the huge queues. i live 20mins from alton towers so many schools around my area go there for a school trip in the summer for the well-behaved kids and prefects. its a tradition of many schools in my area. so that always creates a large line of queues. best times to go alton towers is durin the week in off-peak times. ive been to alton towers in end of september and it was rainin. all queues were 2mins long. some were 0mins long.

I went yesterday got the fast track for £8, got straight on oblivion air and nemesis, then went on obvlion three more times as around 4.30 there we NO queues for any rides, and its not hard to find yourself around keep looking at the maps theres like 3 main areas, UG Land, X-Sector and the other one with air and nemesis in, just get the sky ride around.

you get a time that you have to come back at with the fast track, so not everyone will get them because they dont want to be restricted

Thorpe park > Disney > Alton Towers
Saw + Stealth + Collosus + Tidal Wave = Heaven
Saw came out on the Friday and I went on the Monday when everyone was at school. Amongst other things I got on it 8 times.

Thorpe park is very good. It's the right size so you can easily find your way around, and the rides are all quite good.

Yh! I heard theres a new ride called SAW. I might go with family :P Would be quite nice
i don't know about all the rides, but when i went on nemisis the queue's were big.
but if you go to the single rider entrance, there literally is nobody there and i went on it like 5 times in about 25/30 minutes, you just step straight on. you don't always get to sit with whoever you want, but you get on it loads.

by the time I'd get there, I'd have to get back so I have to stick with the north theme parks. Light-water valley and Flamingo land ftw :P.
ps. your friend needs to stop eating during theme-park times :D

Same happened to me really but we made the most of it, i was starving because i didn't get a maccy d's breakfast on the way their, because they were minging, and spent all my money trying to get a garfield teddy from a machine in which when refilled i asked kindly if i could have one she said no she we called her a ***** and ran (year 8 - 12 year old) We got lost in tiny tots land and found out you had to go on a ride to get back out, so its this **** water ride were me and my mate were pratting about on splashing the water at each other, got told off. love the ribena plastic ball fight house "Please do not shoot the supervisors" -aims and shoots (a) its asking for it tbh, me and my mate ended up vs'ing 2 girls who continuously tried to shoot us so we hatched a plan to shove a ball in the other side of their machine while they were picking up more :) Also on the sky carts to get over the valley we were so bored we started sticking out fingers up at the ones going back down (Yh ino, i was 12 remember, i've changed alot now) and swinging it, not nowing their was a rotating camera in the centre with an intercom we **** ourselfs when they told us off.
So all in all we had fun and we didn't even go on many big rides, Basically all i am saying is. BE IMMATURE!
@Inseriousty, our school set us off at half 5 in the morning to get us their at 10 lmao, i live in the north east to.
forgot who said (I love forcing scared people to go on rides) I pure made my mate look thick as **** in flamingo land, on the water flume were the wave splashes over we were waiting to see some mates come down in the splash zone, i went to him "lets stand over their you'll see their **** scared faces going down the drop" when it came i ran just to the edge of the splash zone and he got drenched :) We had a laugh so we waited for the next one to both get drenched.
And i dunno what the ride was called in flamingo land but its the cork screw, my mate was like "Omg i am not going on that what ever" he won a teddy, i offered to carry it, forced him into the que or the teddy got it and he went on and was one hell of a grouchy sob when he got off.
Tbh.... I went with school in july.. (Last year) :o And we simply wandered onto the rides.. The longest que was 40 mins I suppose.. and thats not that much in my eyes... We got on alot. Maybe Im just lucky? :P

Single rider rocks. I constantly did it in Disney with all my family, we were rarely apart but got on rides about 30 mins faster than everyone else :D
It's always gonna be like that, best thing to do is skive a day of school and go ;)
