View Full Version : Bruno!?!

I just came back from Bruno and I have to say I'm in a bit of a state of shock. I've seen Borat many times and I thought it was little tame with the jokes, I expected more from Bruno but not this. It is the single most offensive thing I have seen in my life but its ******* hilarious.
I don't want to spoil it for you guys by telling you all the jokes but heres an example:
He adopts a baby from Africa and wants to do a photoshoot with it in so he trys to get other mothers to give their babies for the photoshoot. He persuades one mum to let her baby be a Jew on a cart being pushed into an oven by a Baby dressed up as a Nazi. Thats how extreme it is.
The biggest suprise was:
At the end Bruno decides to release a charity song which is pretty racist and funny but a number of artists are in the film singing and playing it such as: Bono, Elton John and Slash.
Has anyone else seen it yet?

If he hadn't of done Borat I think it would have been one of the few British films to be banned. Borat was fairly racist so thats what people are expecting in Bruno which is why I think it wasn't banned.

I saw it a month ago, lol. got into a test screening where we had score cards to mark different aspects of the movie. one of the only few who got to see the janet jackson scene that's been cut out of it because of MJ's passing. it was okay. i mean im not the biggest fan of him, but the humour is mostly only tehre to shock and it kinda got old for me.
You really have to be white or dont watch bruno or else people with think hes racist

he's mixed race himself, and he probably wrote less than half the movie in actuality lol.

Borat was not actually intended to be racist. Sasha is part jewish. The film was made to mock america more than any other nation.

I'm fully aware of this. But it is done through racism making a mockery of how they can be drawn into absolutely anything. Like when in the arena he says "May George Bush drink the blood of every man woman and child in Iraq" and they all cheer.

Just saw it. My one question is how on earth did Sacha Baron Cohen avoid getting killed when making that movie. He has balls the size of planets to do the things he did...

in the newspapers it said he almost got shot by hillbillies at a trailor park because they were unaware Bruno is a character. xD

Especially at the end. He got arrested several times while making it too. The funniest thing is that in Sweden apparently its rated "11+" which means if children as young as 7 go with a parent then they can see it.

Brüno is gonna be rerated 15+ next week cause they're removing 90 seconds of it that made it an 18 apparently.

The watered down cut is being put into circulation while the 18 certificate will remain.

Yes, the 18 certificate original theatrical cut remains, yet there is going to be a 15 rated cut put into circulation as well - two versions showing at once.

I'm fascinated to know how they will cut out 1 minute, 50 seconds to make it a 15. There's way longer scenes in the film that are incredibly dirty that makes it an 18 :P Some of it was so cringe worthy though *shudders at the thought of the gay scenes* Shame I didn't jot them down, would give me ideas ;)
Misawa
17-07-2009, 12:19 AM
They won't just cut scenes they'll cut out words and replace words, shorten scenes and enter scenes at different times.

I just came back from it after being invited along by a friend. Those 2 minutes of cuts are going to be a long of content for the watered down version. It was pretty funny, I'd say about 60 percent of it was genuine, 40 percent set up.

Saw it today, it was so funny! Some parts were abit too extreme! like the meat spin, swingers party and gay sex scenes.
I watched it a few weeks ago, I'm not quite old enough to get in but we just paid to see the hangover then went into Bruno. This is what they are removing to make it a 15.
"The first scene features a montage of exaggerated sexual activity between Bruno and his boyfriend. The second shows Bruno comically miming oral sex. The third features sex among couples at a swingers' party, with sexual detail obscured."
It's not exactly funny when he has gay sex with his boyfriend so your not missing much from that, it is funny when he pretends to have oral with a ghost, the swingers party is only funny at some parts like when he's saying to the guy "your doing a good job, look into my eyes" as he strokes his leg lol.
