I'm sorry but I think all of this "Core vs casual" stuff is total and utter bullcrap. All too often people instantly brand a game hardcore or casual and write it off before they've even played it, they are beginning to forget what games are for, fun. Sure Wii Sports may not have a giant machine gun in it and it may be child friendly but how the hell does that make it any worse of a game? Its extremely fun to play so why is it bad that it can be played with the expanded audience too, surely it just gives you more people to play multiplayer with. I have xboxs, playstations and so called "hardcore" consoles in my house but never have I had such fun playing video games as on the wii. Fair enough, you might not like Wii Sports, Wii Fit or even Super Mario but you need to respect that some people do and that there is much more on the console besides that. I'm sick and tired of all the people going into Nintendo threads saying "The wii is crap, you just wiggle a remote around and all thats on it is wii sports". It's not ok? The PS3 and Xbox have great games like MGS 4, GTA 4 and Halo 3 but equally the Wii has Super Mario, Twilight princess and in their own right Wii Fit and Wii Sports.

Somewhat un-related but I'll never use my wii once the ps3 remote thing is here. Infact I never use it now lol.

But ye it's your opinions :). Personally I do think some games (almost typed gays lol) are for hardcore and some are just for freeplay and fun just going around. GTA is one I just go around and kill the peoples whereas cod is hardcore for me. Wii games are all quite freeplayish to me :P Well all the ones I play.

Gaming to me is a controller infront of a TV screen. None of this motion-sensing crap.

Any game, any at all can be casual or hardcore really...

Games are for fun, agreed, but most games coming out today are aimed at the casuals (see soccer mums and little kids), and that's really no fun for us hardcore gamers who want challenge.

There's a difference between core and hardcore. Core is about established franchises but they don't have to be hardcore games

Just because others can play a game it doesn't make it any less challanging. Most games like WiiFit have really hard challenges, even on the "proper" games on it.

It used to be but like many phrases it has adapted and now when people refer to something as "core" they usually mean hardcore rather than a "core franchise".

Oh no you ******* didn't, Wii fit is not a game, it is a gimmick to attract soccer moms.
