nvrspk4's Updates for Old Fogeys
So this is a week and a day late...sorry As I said around the Habbox anniversary, with this being HabboxForum's fifth birthday we thought we would do something special for all of the older members of HabboxForum.
So, anyone who has been here for five years (this means your account was registered five years ago, banned accounts do not count) is entitled to three months of free Anniversary (Gold) VIP. So on your fifth HabboxForum birthday, send a personal message to me and I will set up your gold VIP for three months!
Thanks for sticking with us for this long, and hopefully for more years to come
(For those asking why something this simple took such a long time, I was trying to find a good way to automate it or at least make it a group or something but I couldn't find a way to work in a three month subscription. However there is a possibility of an Old Fogeys type joinable usergroup in the near future. Be sure to put a thread in Habbox Feedback if you're in support/against. If you don't care, then it doesn't matter )

Sorry I never made this clear, this is intended as a permanant thing. It was released as a HabboxForum fifth birthday thing, however in my view anyone who sticks around for five years (and didn't get banned along the way losing their original account) deserves the VIP.
So whenever you hit your fifth Habbox birthday you can PM me and I will give you the VIP. It will probably eventually shift to the responsibility of VIP managers but I hope that future GMs will continue the tradition. I'm trying to find a way to automate it so that it never gets lost, or at the very least a PM to users on their fifth Habbox birthday that congratulates them, thanks them, and offers the VIP.

Wow this is awesome. I've got a long wait though. I made a new HxF account when my original Habbo was unbanned, instead of just getting a name change. That was Robaldinio which was registered on 07-04-2005 so even that would have 9 months to go :P.

Harsh on the no banned accounts clause. Just becuse some of the disputes we entered ended in ban's doesnt mean we havent been here through habbox's big ups and downs.
I'm pretty sure half the old bans would not have happened in the current situation, i say that being a member who has been banned for proving a super mod wrong on a basic biological fact and for quoteing a post made by jrh2002 becuse it contained the fact habboxforum was actually making a pretty comfy profit (unlike now under the new no premium services rule)

Kinda agree, although i'd say that they should just allow members who have been on habbox over 4/5 years to combine all there accounts together regardless of bans on them. The fact they are still here proves they were banned over a single incident have are not repeat offenders.
Theres no real downside to doing this, as members who have been here a while are rewarded for there continued contributions by finally being able to keep all there posts and info on one account, and habbox can get rid of some of the banned accounts littering the forum db.
Theres no advantage in keeping em banned, and any punishment idea has long outlived any usefulness "/

Most my bans were over turned, only one that stuck was for quoting jsh2002 as it was by sierk and hes still the big boss, so no one will challenge it. I wasn't active during the implementation of the no reviews of old bans so now its kinda stuck, pointlessly. (i've been told if it were not banned, merging may be a possibility)
Theres no real meaning in bans that old, as it isnt stopping me from doing anything. All it does is wastes space in the db, and means i cant search my old posts very easily "/ I duno, it just seems like a vague annoyance maintained without any real cause any more. Since perm bans aint perm for a user, there kinda meaningless to start, 1/2 years is a pretty harsh punishment, but unlimited is just pointless.
I think there should be a freash-hold where active users can have there old accounts unbanned and merged, even if it is 3/4/5 or so years.

That just sounds like they're too lazy to merge them to be honest. Like they said, if it wasn't banned they would, why not go the whole way and just unban then merge? There's not reason to keep it banned and it would be a waste of db resources. Besides, you were only quoting something on the forum which isn't a bannable offense, just some snotty person with a grudge really :P
If the account has been banned for over a year, and the owner of that account has a new one, they should be merged. It's hardly a punishment keeping it banned when they've effectively moved on. It's pointless keeping it there and the info that account holds (date of registry and post count/rep count) could be transferred to prove how long that person has been a member of the forum. Hardly any effort.

I disagree. Mostly because I can see where you are coming from, but your ban was an extraordinary circumstance. I understand how you feel and I will look further into the situation however few have the same situation.
I don't agree that the banned people should be allowed to have the VIP as the VIP is also an acknowledgement of people who have always tried to help Habbox constructively and thus not gotten banned. Or at least have been good enough not to get permed. There are some on the outlying edges who got shafted, I can think of at least one other person whose account got deleted (no not Mizki) but those are by far in the minority. That being said, I'll see what I can do about that.
Personally i think all accounts that have been registered for 4 years and are perm should be unperm :)

I disagree entirely, however I can't really dispell your argument without revealing confidential ban information, so let me just say that the counterpoint to your argument is very close at hand :P Its not exactly a big secret, just I don't want to be the one to say it because I'm not supposed to discuss that :) Maybe I'm being silly but hey.

My response to both would be that you obviously want your account back, else you would not be lobbying for it. Mentor you make the point about a waste of DB space but it would be just as easy to clear up DB space by deleting banned accounts :P You want them back for different reasons, an old account holds value to each user for a different reason but if they cross the line enough to get permanantly banned it will be a reminder.
Its not like temp bans did not exist when the forum opened.

Laziness is not the issue :P You don't fully understand the situation, once again I'll act like a loon and go by my own standards of upholding this privacy policy that I think is inconvenient but in the end does more good than harm, but if Mentor thinks its silly he can PM me and I will be more than happy to PM him a full clarification which he will have my permission to post.
Yes. I know. Its stupid. I'm human :P
In the case of proving how long they've been a member, that is essentially a part of the punishment. They've lost the benefits of the old account, established name, old join date, high post count.
At the end of the day I think it comes down to a difference in philosophy behind punishment and its effectiveness. I think we'll probably disagree on this for a long time, but at this time its my turn as GM and so it will most probably stay that way. Who knows, maybe I'll come back one day to see GommeInc is running the forum (and die from a heart attack). I'm not closing the door on debate, you know by know that I welcome it and weirdly enough enjoy it. But I think we'll end up going back and forth because we look at the issue from two different sides, both of them valid, or at least I would like to think so.

If you get banned you can hardly moan. You don't see habbo giving gold hc badges to users 'Because my gold hc account was banned'. Thats not how it works. "Don't break the rules, if you cannot take the time".

I may loose out on the gold vip for being old but having a ban, but goin by your sigs i may still gain vip by still being a helpful member :p
My main issue is that i dont see the ban as justified, a perm ban is just OTT for what i did IMO. I expect a lot of the other older members who are still around and do have bans like mine are in a similar position. Due to the new rule about questioning old bans, i can no longer attempt to overturn the original ban (prove my innocents) so getting amnesty is the only real option left on the table for members like myself (which in fairness is probably the big majority of the old members around, having lived through some bug forum upheavals )

i got my first account merged with my second account, but then i had this account left so they didnt merge all 3, my 1st account is perm banned for second chance, as i originally got perm for posting a image that was spoofed (not that i knew off) then i got unbanned second chance with MAD and then got perm for 4 infractions >.>
How the heck do you get accounts merged? Do you choose which name you keep, and do all the stats get combined: posts, rep points, rep power, infractions bans etc?
I'm just curious because I have a slightly older account (never been banned either, just infracted once or twice I think) :P.
not a great example using habbo because they mass unbanned all accounts :8
Hahaha lol. Btw I just realised I don't think I even read the thread about that :O. I'd love to know the real reason for them doing that. Did they elaborate on "we felt like giving everyone a second chance"?

His merging was a mistake :P We only merge accounts if we issued a ban and we find that the ban was completely unjust. As in should not have been issued :P
