I'm on a mission not to go on Habbo (unless to get free things that require a log-in or the usual need to pop-in once a week or so).

I'm sure a few of you, though we'd not like to admit, get hooked on it as I do.

I've spent a lot of money over the years on it and though it was always fun and a great escape from life, it has been there since I was young, so it's hard to let go of it, let go of friends, familiar places etc.

I was wondering, how many of you guys hang around the forum, retaining your vested interest in the hotel, staying updated, whilst at the same time refraining from logging on?

Share your thoughts about the hotel and it's lure if you wish :] J

I use this forum more than Habbo. I don't really play it very much now, but I do go on now and again.

I think if you still see the appeal then you might as well carry on cuz youre restricting yourself. Eventually youll lose the appeal and stop playing, I did after a while and I rarely am on now. :P

i don't get people saying they have a "habbo addiction", though.
i mean is it not an internet addiction really?

I rarely go on it these days. About once a month to check the new stuff? The people that I enjoyed talking too on there are either on forums, my msn or my facebook.

habboxforum has kept me off habbo really, now I feel I don't need to log into habbo to keep in touch with what is going on.

Also why not get hooked on something else that will be easier to quit? I recommend smoking and ecstasy, only joking umm personally the xbox helped me to kick my habbo addiction and the xbox is something I rarely go on now.

Tried both of those, wouldn't recommend them to anyone ;]

This forum is indeed great for keeping track of what's going on!

I'd say I was addicted to it back in the day. I find that even now, if I'm on Habbo/Habbox etc I won't be on Facebook or MSN. Where before I recently "started" again, Facebook would be the first thing I'd go on whenever I sat at a computer.

I have found however that there's basically nobody I knew on Habbo any more. Although I always see names I recognise, just because they were always well-known or I know them from fansites etc. So I tend to make friends with those that are familiar. When I first logged back on the other day, I think there was about 2 out of 500 or so friends online so I had to add new people lol.

I'm glad to say I'm not as posessive about furni any more; I've already been scammed of my Veno and a White Birdbath since I've been back but I'm not that bothered tbh. Instead I've just been organising all my junk and made some rooms like a casino and a Throne grabber.

So yeah, I suppose it feels like a more healthy approach to "playing" Habbo :).

yeah the main reason i dont play habbo much anymore is bcos i have a better social life then i did 1-4 years ago, this is when i was a habbo addict. now ive just left school (well 2 months ago) and made the most out of my free time and i've really enjoyed it.

another reason is that i'm only interested in the new furni that gets released and that puhelkulpa website publishes them all before they actually get released. for some reason i still top my HC up, dno why but i guess its bcos im on 44 months and want 48 to get the next hc badge :)

I used to be crazy hooked on Habbo. Then about a year ago, on Habbo CA, I got rid of all my thrones and pures, gave to randoms and such, and traded a bunch of my furni for credits. I bought myself like 2 years worth of HC so I can visit and still be HC.

You say that like it's a bad thing? Surely there's tons more to do in china than there is in canada? :P

Lmao, yeah there is a lot to do but not when you're with over protective parents who don't let you do much except like look at cultural things. I seriously spend a lot of time with rocks .. sculptures, mountains, caves, old stone buildings. It's alright for a bit but I've had way too much of it in the past 2months. I'm still here for another 2 months .. I wanna see the night life. :(

I go on here everyday, just not Habbo.
I was addicted, but now just very bored of it and don't find myself wanting to go on. :/

I go on here though, cos it's more than just a Habbo forum now :). If it was alll Habbo on here, I wouldn't really visit it, however, I use the Habbo sections alot lol, but having just Habbo sections would be boring.

I do pop on habbo every so often though.

Everybody seems to end up resenting habbo in later life for all those sunny days spent cooped up indoors trying to trade imaginary furniture from people.

I use the forum more than habbo. I sadly admit I am addicted and have been for quite a few years now... I have recently been considering of either giving my habbo account to some one else or creating a new password with one I will not know.

I think a lot of people who play Habbo are in denial - and I admit, it's very addictive to play for hours and hours. Lots of people on this forum are like 'I NEVA PLAY IM TOO COOL' yet they sit here on a Habbo forum talking about Habbo so really you are still involved!

But yeah, playing less is so rewarding

No offense but abstaining from habbo is even "weirder" than playing it. You're talking about it like it's alcohol or a drug. You'll get bored of it eventually, everyone does.

That's a good point but anything can become addictive if you use/do it enough.

Tbh I prefered being a noob on habbo and getting scammed then starting fresh, it's not the same anymore I have lots of stuff, I have no more goals to achieve. I was really addicted back then.

That's the time things start slowing down and you just go on to chat, which is kinda what stage I'm at now.

I know yeah. It would be great it most people's aim was just to collect every piece of furni or rare once. In fact, imagine if there was like a Pokédex (Frunidex lol) for all the furni that has been in your hand! Haha that's going in the ideas section now!! :D Not collect as many Thrones as possible and try to get all the Pink ICMs on the hotel or something :P.

'BrownPlastoMon, an ex-normal furnimon'
'This furni has cultural significance amongst many older Habbo's and can usually be found in large-scale stacking projects or social rooms owned by querky Habbo's.'
'Because of it's colour, BrownPlastoMon is unpopular amongst many trainers and is notorious for being a rather boring character, dispite this however, it holds a hidden authority of all other plasto chairs.'

I never go on Habbo anymore and I am an infrequent poster. I'm very passive on the forums now, just watch whats happening and seeing people complain a hell of a lot about things changing. I started in '04 and quit in '08. I enjoyed being new and getting into stuff which I would no longer enjoy, like getting your first whatever and making friends. I played less and less and if you don't keep up its hard to maintain your friends and items etc. I find now that when I go on I have no idea whats happening and everyone on my list seems to forget who I was, haha.

I see what you mean, I'll be on holiday a lot this summer so when I come back having missed loads of comps/rares/badges/updates (because SO much happens in a mere week on the hotel these days) then I'll probably just give up trying to find out what I've missed and not come on, let's hope that works ;]
