My cousin started today, he said it was easy enough.
They start a lot of new people together so you wont be alone and it's only a 4 hour shift.

I worked at McDonalds for over a year.
A job as a McDonalds crew member includes everything, cooking, cleaning and serving.
The strict training programme says you are meant to spend a month in the kitchen before touching a float (till) but most places don't do this.
You'll either be trained in the kitchen or the till on your first shift, don't worry you'll have someone with you at all times :)
Good luck

I work there, it piece of piss! You will get confused for first few days but after you got hang of it its easy. One word of advice though, dont backchat any of your bosses as they wont hesitate to fire you as they know they can replace you in seconds. A few mates who started with me got fired like this.
oh thanks guys, I'll keep that in mind ;)
feeling a lot better already! :P
my friend on msn who is from dubai said when he worked there last year, they had him cleaning all the time - but i guess this varies from country to country

It depends, Where i work you pretty much ither work on tills and cleaning (which the ladies tend to do) and then only men in kitchen.
Get used to doing the washing up, becuase you will be doing alot of it if your put on dive for an hour!

All storage trays and cooking equipment is constantly being cleaned of course. Areas that food is prepared should be getting cleaned constantly by the worker on the area, when they are not busy fulfilling an order.

Don't you have to be 18 to work on a till?

McDonalds doesn't sell any age restricted products, so it's 16. Even if they did someone who is under 18 can still work on tills, although the cannot sell any restricted item themselves, unless they get permission from someone who is at or over the age restriction on the item. Obviously McDonalds doesn't have this policy but we do at Sainsbury's as do many other supermarkets. The only places that will have an age restriction of 18 for till workers are places like Game and HMV as they are constantly dealing with items which could carry an age restriction and therefore would be too much hassle to have someone standing over their shoulder authorizing transactions.
That's my understanding of it anyway. Best of luck with your new job to the OP :).

I worked there for 3 months, on your first few days you will either be trained to used the tills or in the kitchen, you'll get a "buddy" who will show you what to do by you shadowing them for the first few days. Make sure you know who the managers are so you know who to ask if you have any problems/questions. Make sure you know who your shift manager so you can ask to go on your break, you need a 1 hour break once you'ved worked 6 hours. Everyone there is really friendly, if someone asks you to do somthing don't be like "I don't want to do that"
Anyway i'm sure you'll enjoy working there and will make loads of friends.

i work in burger king so i guess it's the same concept. where i work is great, i'm only a normal staff member but have been there for 10 months, I always back chat the managers, swear at them etc, we always mess around, banter with the customers and each other.
We don't have like set rules as to who works in the kitchen or tills. Mostly we have English people on the tills and cleaning in the front of the store and the Polish at the back/kitchen. If you're working with the right people it'll be a laugh, aslong as you get the work done.

In which case you're breaking the law, as are your employers.
I do it as well like.
