Post a picture of yourself

Heya,

The thread post a picture of yourself is located in the spam forum, yet we aren't allowed to spam in the thread or even talk about something that isn't referencing a picture.

The whole point of the spam forum is to post pointlessly so it's unfair that we are now unable to do that in this thread. If the thread has rules that says we can't go off topic the thread should be moved out of the spam forum.

yeah it was moved out of pictures+photography because it was going off-topic so either let us SPAM in SPAM or move it back to pics+photography or w/e

Yeah i agree if you aint allowed spam it, put it in Photography and we will see the rules changed quick asit will be moved to spam (again)

At the end of the day if you want to spam you can do it in another thread.

Too many users post pictures in that thread & get ignored because some other conversation is going on.

I do think it should be moved to the pictures forum though, but that's up to Matt :)

Indeed - the point of the spam Forum is being able to post pointless threads that don't fit into other Forums. However all other rules apply, this includes the rule that says that you aren't allowed to go off topic. This, of course, is something we are more lenient on but in the case of a thread like "Post a picture of yourself" it becomes very annoying if people are spamming it constantly and that is actually a violation of both the Forum and Spam rules. It is therefore much better for everybody if there is some form of structure when it comes to the thread.

We don't allow it, we never have. All I am saying is that we are occasionally more lenient on it than we would be elsewhere. Normally you would moan if we were too harsh but where we allow leniency you moan as well, I could always have the Moderators crack the whip? If rules have been clarified in one thread then you should follow those rules as they have been reiterated and there is no excuse for you not to follow them.

However if a thread serves no specific purpose, it's okay to go off topic as there was no point in the first place, however the post a pic thread has a purpose, therefore it's wrong to go off topic.

The thread was used for both pictures and conversation. The conversation is okay because it's in the spam forum... I don't see what the problem was with it being there and being used as it was? If there isn't a problem with something why try and fix it?

If you're saying the problem is some peoples pics weren't commented on then maybe it's because people had nothing to say? :S You can't expect every photo to be commented on, and i'm sure the posters don't cry about it.

I have one of the highest post counts in that thread and I really enjoyed posting in it, these new rules have completely ruined the thread and undermine the purpose of the spam forum completely.

When a thread is titled "Post a picture of you". That doesn't mean you can post pictures of other people that don't even have "you" included in the photo. That was one of the main problems in that thread. This is why the new thread was created and new rules for this not to happen again.

If you would like a thread purely for conversation - make one and if it proves popular we'll see if Forum Management would be willing to stick it.

The old one didn't have ridiculous rules in, and it's been around for such a long time. It would be a huge shame to close it for no reason.

posting it elsewhere won't stop arguments, it'll be open to more viewers meaning more insults & arguments. it's popular in spam as we all tend to get on most the time hence it being popular to talk in:S

Any long thread has arguments because this forum has so many users and they all have different opinions. The arguments seem to generate after a picture has been posted, snide comments are often made at picture posters, they don't start because people go off topic.
