N Koreans added to sanctions list

A United Nations committee has added a number of North Korean individuals and firms to a sanctions blacklist, a UN diplomat has said.
The diplomat, who spoke to reporters anonymously, said five individuals, five firms and two weapons-related items would be subject to sanctions.
The individuals and firms were not named by the diplomat.
A UN resolution in June toughened sanctions against North Korea after it conducted nuclear and missile tests.
The resolution called for inspections of ships to or from North Korea believed to be carrying goods connected to weapons of mass destruction. It also broadened the arms embargo and further cut the North's access to the international financial system, but did not authorise the use of force.
Ties between North Korea and the outside world have grown extremely tense since it walked away from six-nation talks aimed at ending its nuclear programme.
It subsequently said it would "weaponise" its plutonium stocks and start enriching uranium, prompting fears that it is working to produce nuclear warheads small enough to put on missiles - though analysts say it could take a long time to do so.
So the UN now say that any ships going to or from North Korea HAVE to be searched, how do you think Kim will respond to this? He said he will start war with anyone who stops any of their ships.

Can't believe North Korea is still like this today .. it's a shame really, all those people without any internet, cellphone use, so many stuck in poverty, idolizing someone who isn't a "god" like they think. I hope N Korea becomes democratic real soon :l

Thats socialism for you, to continue its long slow struggle they have to keep the outside world out, because if democracy was allowed it would implode on itself as we saw with the collapse of the Soviet Union from 1989 to 1991. They believe if North and South Korea do rejoin to become Korea once again, they will eventually become a great power such as Japan, United Kingdom, Frace and so forth although the South will have to spoend a lot of money on the North just to improve it.

The adverage North Korean is apparently a few inches smaller than the adverage South Korean, says it all really.

They believe if North and South Korea do rejoin to become Korea once again, they will eventually become a great power such as Japan, United Kingdom, Frace and so forth although the South will have to spoend a lot of money on the North just to improve it.

How on earth can you say something as definitive as "most likely" when in the nations history they've never responded to anything with military action (There's a few minor cases of sniping soldiers and stealing the US Navy boat but none of this falls under attack).

The adverage North Korean is apparently a few inches smaller than the adverage South Korean, says it all really.You could be onto something there, a ruined country won't take long to build it's self back up again, especially as it'll have lots of outside help. Just look at how quickly West germany, Japan, South Korea, Italy and France built themselves up after WWII despite the countries being completely devastated. Much like the reunification of germany, that all went well despite worries that the poverty in east Germany would ruin west Germany, in just a few years Germany was a great nation once again.

I guess you're right, I don't know much about North Korean's history or it's agressiveness. But I just get the feeling that the nuclear testing, the aggressive isolation from the world and threats are all building up to something.

They'll make a deal that they'll scrap their nuclear weapons if they're given huge amounts of aids. Quite obviously the US would accept this and it'd then be sorted.

Although China don't like what N Korea are doing, they have to support them because if N Korea just to say did something stupid like fired missiles at someone and the US or whatever forces returned attack, it would put China in great danger.

I think North Korea would do it, they've done similar deals in the past, when they're completely solitary from the world and they are starving and the society wouldn't function I think they'd be willing to give up the Nukes then if they got a good deal. This could be anytime in the next few months/years.
