Proof psychic's and mediums are just con artists

Well i'm guessing most will think the titles an obvious point, aside from the good number of logical failings and repeated scientific studies in which psychic fail to yield any better results and pure guess work, theres still a good contingent who claim psychic's are real.

Well, the bbc have this nice clip of 3 so called psychic's being put trough a simple test - they fail hard.

Somewhat hilarious and you can really see how much of it is truly a con.

I entirely agree that psychics are fake, but the stuff Derren Brown does never fails to amaze me.

True, but it is still clever trickery. Difference is he admits this, instead using it to take advantage of those who think its some sort of super natural power :)

I think Psychics are fake, but they are really good at convincing people, they study people in different hands like they look to see if you have a wedding ring on then ask are you engaged?:) Seen a vid on BBC ages ago about it

I emailed Psychic Sally once asking for lottery number but she didn't reply. Conveniently their psychic powers only work when they have an audience and can ask ambiguous questions like "is anyone here related to a dead person called Louise?!"

I know you will probably all disagree but I do believe there are true psychics out there, a very small minority, but I do believe some of them are real.
What Derren Brown does is just mind games really. I know he is very clever at what he does, but I wouldn't call him a psychic.
It's just such a shame that people like that on the programme are ruining it for the genuine small percentage.

I agree with Toughened. Derren Brown plays with people's minds, rather than reading them. (I've met the guy who teaches him :P).

I think there may be some people who can see things that other people can't. We all experience deja vu at one point or another so I'm sure there are people who see this more often, thus leading to foreseeing the future. We all know it's possible, we've all (or will) have experienced it at one point or another. People that make cheap TV shows claiming to be psychic are the frauds, lying to make money.

I thought of that video when I saw this thread, (before I clicked the link), and yes it does prove that the majority of these people claiming to read minds, see back centuries etc are cons.

Cold reading is something used by most cons - When you slowly squeeze information from someone like Jim said.

There was a programme about a man claiming he could communicate with children who couldn't talk. He could know what they were thinking. In the end he was cold reading. It's just making random guesses but doing it so slightly that the 'victim' doesn't notice.

I've always thought they looked around at responses anyway, what someone is wearing, what they've read etc etc.

I don't. I just believe like someone above said that there is a small percentage of genuine people who can see things others can't, or have a gift for that matter. It's just the people we seen in the video are making the minority of genuine psychics not seem any different; when indeed they could be, and therefore causing most people to be sceptic and questioning the genuine people.

Theres never been even the tiny grain of truth to any psychic ability which has ever been tested. Theres nothing to hint any real psychic power has ever - or even could ever, exist.

The mind is just very easy to trick, some use this for entertainment (Darren brown) others unfortunatly just use it to con grieving and upset people out of there money "/
