In Habbo's Terms of Service I just found:

1.5 Habbo accounts, (including any Services attached to the accounts), that are old, unused or passive for six months or more, will be deleted without notification on a regular basis.

I knew they did this but I thought it was only accounts that had been inactive for years, not 6 months! I quit in December until about a week ago, so I was inactive for 7 months. So maybe they don't do it too often?

It's rubbish anyway, I don't believe it. I know they had one huge clear out but that was years ago - I don't think they've deleted mass accounts since then. If they did they would publicise it because they'd want praise and to be deemed "good staff" by the active Habbo users.

Lost_Witness told me they can't have an account clear out and it is spoken about at a higher level and as soon as they could, they would. That was easily 6-8 months ago. I imagine it would include a lot of administrative work which nobody can really be bothered to do which in all honesty is fair enough.

I remember the last clear out a good 3 years ago. I managed to grab the name 'Carlos' because of this ;)

Your account has furni/badges/painted rooms still so they can't delete it.

In the last clear out was when I got the name e5, lol.

Tbh when you register an account you already have a painted room and free furni. And windows are furni now. So all accounts made within the last year and a half or so will have furni and painted rooms :P.

Well commercially it's not in their interest.

Social networking sites pride themselves on the number of registered accounts and use them in marketing materials and comparisons to other sites (example we have 100 million registered users). If they delete unused accounts this figure could fall massively and reduce the impact of their stats (example we have 50 million registered users, but we deleted old accounts though!).

Also, the reason most unused usernames are still around is probably cos' people buy them gifts by mistake lol (example jack instead of jack,)..

In all honesty, that number would always rise back up. It's good that they clear out because people make clones and never use them and it's just silly for people who have always wanted a certain name. But yeah I see what your getting at
