Download ubuntu, install it to its own space. It'll set up the duel boot stuff and grub. Easy as pie, just do ubuntu second :p

Naa, ubuntu is very easy to install, download the distro, burn to disk, boot from it and follow the simple steps, just make sure to tell it not to overwrite your previous stuff.

Alternately the wubi installer posted above may do the job to, though i've not used that myself.

Yea it'll work, that said i can take quite a while to turn up, buying a disk and burning it yourself is always the quicker option :p (wubi doesn't require a disk at all does it?)

Wubi doesn't.

I usually get Ubuntu disks in under 2 weeks.

Basically it just sets everything up from within windows, once done you'll be greeted by grub on boot which will list all the installed operating systems. You'll get ubuntu, ubuntu safe mode, and the memory debug on top, and windows vista or whatever at the bottom :P

Its (i think) an official method so should be safe. Also means u can uninstall from within windows if u get fed up with it :p

This is how I dual-booted on my laptop;

Put Ubuntu on a USB stick then installed by booting from usb > logging in > install etc onto a new partition

That replaced windows MBR thingy with GRUB, so in windows i downloaded freembr i think its called that replaces your MBR, then added the linux swap partition as a new os on the mbr (using that tool - you have to download the new beta version for it to work with the new ubuntu) and now i use the windows loader for ubuntu and windows. (VISTA)
