As many of you may experience, i good only get clothes to fit me from topman. But lately there clothes are becoming "same old". What is with all the cartoon ones?! okay, i have a few myself but most of them just look stupid, and you would just never wear them outside. Im finding at the moment, they are only good for plain t shirts. Due to this i have started shopping in river island. Any one else realising this?

They are really thin, good for going on hols tho, nice t-shirts but keeps you cool.
I get my skinny's from there, and I like their tee's there ok for just wandering around town in.. But I do agree, it's becoming too, Oh look he shops at topman. Oh look theres another. Its too common, they need more variety!

Also if you sweat you get a big sweat patch on the tops from topman
Just though that was necessary to say. :)

Topman is finally being noticed as a cheap, tacky clothing store and will probably have to change its direction sooner rather than later. They lack any decent styles and as you said, only exist for cheap, plain t-shirts and shirts. RiverIsland are a bit better for materials, it's where I go now (plus Debenhams :P). So you're not alone :)

Topman yeah I have every 2 for £10 tops and that's all I go there for haha. I can't stand the cartoon tops.
I go river island myself, proper great shop!

I never ever shop from Topman. Everyone just ends up with the same stuff, and to be honest it isn't all that nice.

It depends what you go for, the hoodies and so on are overused now but the cardigans, jeans, shoes and some shirts are still fit as ever.

i used to get basically everything from there, not any longer. whether that's due to me changing what i want to wear or the quality of the shop deteriorating, i don't know. i still get a few bits and bobs in there but that's nothing in comparison to how much i used to.
Same old stuff, its nice when they get good stuff buts its not very often. I love h&m and riverisland now tho :D

Whose been preaching this forever? That's right, it's your old pal LTS. I no longer even buy the v-neck button tops because everyone wears them now and you do see a lot of people wearing the same things. I understand what you mean about the fit of some of the clothes but it's too expensive to buy essentials like tshirts and whatnot. I get mine from Next who are quite good at getting the right fit (ie the sleeves aren't massive). I do still buy jeans from topman though because they seem to get the fit right on them.

When I'm buying white or black tshirts I don't really care so long as I like the way it looks and they don't cost £15 a pop.

Yes I used to bum topman but now as everyone else has said you can just tell who shops there. Which is like the majority of teens with the same sorta' style.
Does anybody know of a shop with almost exact or similar style, even on the internet, that hardly any people are aware of?

What? Loads of people wear them. River Island & USC are good, quality clothing shops. The Debenhams in town closest to me has a topman inside it so it's completley confusing.

If you're gonna shop online it's got to be ASOS cause they generally do a lot of Topman style things but such a wide variety.
sarcasm..

But at bigger sizes lol the XXS (Typical XS in stores) is still rather baggy and loose, where as a RI/Topman/Newlook XS fits perfect :S

ASOS clothes die quicker than Topman clothes and are equally as cheap, but I admit I do have a blue and white hoody from there :P ASOS is only good for underwear <3

To be honest, ASOS clothes are waaaay too expensive for what you get, Topman is better quality for price compared to what standards you get with ASOS :S

I think with ASOS it depends what you by.
I just tend to buy designer stuff from there because it is cheaper.
I'd never buy their own stuff.
GommeInc
25-07-2009, 01:24 PM
The designer stuff is the expensive stuff? You can buy that stuff for a reasonable price from Debenhams or department stores/their own stores like in Bluewater. There's a place near me called Williams and Griffins which does LaCoste stuff -it's expensive, but no where near as expensive as ASOS make out their prices. The concept of things being cheaper on the internet is lost with ASOS.

No way should a t-shirt with a fake shirt attached to it should cost over £20, let alone verging £60. The idea of clothes like that is to be cheap, not expensive. You can get better for a better price.

I usually buy custom made clothing, so I don't go out to shops for clothes. I prefer quality over what's fashionable.
If your not into ASOS, go to your local TK maxx
Tk maxx is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

90% of what he says is so stupid it's hilarious.
i've totally gone off topman tops+hoodies, they are way to thin, and not worth the minimal amount of fabric they're made from. however topman skinny jeans are still the best that i've found for guys. you can't beat £25 black and blue skinnies

ASOS is probably the best online clothing retailer I've come across because all the brands that I like wearing are on there (bar a few) and the amount of clothing on there is huge.
Why does it matter if you pay a little bit more for some clothing that not everyone has. A lot of the premium designer brands on there are expensive for what you get, but atleast you can walk down the road without seeing another 20 people wearing the same stuff as you.

i do hate it. but some of the less popular stuff are pretty cool. like the zebra top they had for a few weeks, it has pointy shoulders. and i like their 'party' ones with the cut of sleeves. But yeah. if you're one of them topboy's, I suppose you'll have trouble finding something that less people wear.

topman's good for jeans. but, grr! i hate hate hate hate those cartoon tops, hoodies and underwear. plain is better. i try to head to H&M or even in topman the less popular stuff. also urban outfitters is really good for good vintage clothes.
