I'd recommend The Descent 2, The Final Destination (4), Saw VI or Wrong Turn 3

I knew about all of those except Wrong Turn 3. I'll check release dates now, thank you. :)

Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead is going straight-to-DVD, so you won't see that in cinemas; hopefully it'll be as good as Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, as that was better than the first, and a total surprise directed by my good friend Joe Lynch. The Final Destination (moronic title) may be decent. I'd recommend Antichrist if you want to be shocked. People fainted at the world premiere in Cannes. SAW VI hits cinemas in October, but is bound to suck like the last three.

Thanks. How come they fainted? Don't tell me what happened, just is it gorey?

Extremely sordid scenes, such as Willem Dafoe ejaculating blood.

Woah, that's quite weird.

I haven't, it's not out until mid-August I believe, but don't quote me on that. Friends at the company I work for saw it at Cannes and told me.

But if you want good horror, you're honestly not going to find it in the cinema. The best flicks are on DVD - films of the past - the last genuinely great horror film that I saw that was released theatrically was SAW, and that was 2004.

Yeah I've seen all the SAW films. :) Very good.

That Antichrist sounds bloody freaky.. don't even want to watch that. Willem Dafoe is a nutter aswell, last film I seen him in was Speed 2 and he wasn't sane in that.

Speed 2, for lack of a better word, sucks!

Speed was a great film though, so I had good expectations for Speed 2.. even without Keanu Reeves I thought it was going to be okay as Sandra Bullock returned.. but I didn't even know about the sequel till a few years back and it's well over 10 years old now, so that should of really said something. Nevertheless, I have both on dvd and they are at least watchable.. better than some other stuff.

I agree with Misawa, horror films now are much more style over substance than their counterparts from the 70s and 80s. That's why they're constantly remaking those films instead of actually coming up with new ones.

Yeah Saw 6 should be good. :)
2 of the scariest films I've seen are Mirrors and Haunting in Connecticut.

Haunting in Connecticut I thought wasn't that good. I haven't seen Mirrors yet. :P
