I have this horrible habit of clicking my knuckles - and occasionally my right ankle.
I just can't seem to stop and it's really not at all attractive lol

So does anyone else have this habit? And any tips on how to try and resist clicking joints?

It causes arthritis so I would do your hardest to try and stop it.

Well mines isn't a habit...it just happens, my wrist will click dead randomly - like I can't always make it happen but sometimes it'll just stop and start.
Also my left knee does this weird crunching/clicking noise thing...you can actually feel it if you touch my knee....doctor said it was prob just my knee cap a bit out of alignment...so nothing to worry about...just pretty gross

First of all, there is nothing to the myth of arthiritis being cause by cracking knuckles, I've spoken to doctors, osteopathists and whatnot, some of them actually recommend doing it as it can relieve pressure built up in your knuckles due to increased usage, reduced movement or high production of fliud between the knuckles.

It can be annoying for some people, I've done it for years, my fingers, toes, neck, back and wrists. The best way to resist it is to simply try to put it off, if you feel like you want to do and don't want to, just sit on your hands or whatever, that's how I gradually slowed down doing it and only do it when I need to now (about once or twice a day at the most). But if you feel it helps like relieving pressure or stiffness, then do it, if you don't it will get worse, not the finger itself, but the feeling when you move it and could simply crack itself.

i clicked my jaw for 2 years until i started getting trouble from it, my jaw now locks in position on a morning and i can barely open it. I use to crack my knee and stopped that. but i always crack my ankles now @_@ i only ever crack my jaw now when trying to stop it locking.

The worst feeling is when you need to crack it but it just wont crack then it feels like there's a massive pressure built up in the joint. >:l

My ankle always cracks, especially on stairs. I had surgery done on my ankle so I know why mine cracks!

Isn't cracking your fingers just air bubbles? Any other place is your joints i think

It's air bubbles everywhere, any joints you crack. Just the bubbles popping as they surface from the lubricating fluid between joints.

The "cracking" sound is natural gases and pressure which gathers in the cracks and crevices of your joints and bones. It's completely natutal to hear "crack". Don't worry :)

And I constantly crack my knuckles 'cos I'm always using my hands all day long at work. If only I knew how to stop doing it... I do it subconciously now!

NAUGHTY :@

It's basically a build up of acid in your joints so when you click it it goes. I have to do an anlkes sometimes because otherwise they feel really stiff and they don't move right. So yeah i try not to in my fingers because it does do something bad to the joints i used to be really bad and do it constant in all 3 finger joints and my toes aswell..

I feel like i've written to much on a simple subject. :eusa_wall:rolleyes:
