View Full Version : FIFA 10 thread (INFO. and discuss)
FIFA and EA Sports are back with the 2010 edition due to be released on the 3rd of October.
FIFA 10 will be the next installment of EA's FIFA series of football video games. Developed by EA Canada, it is published by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA Sports label. It will be available for Sony's PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Microsoft's Windows and Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii and DS, Nokia's N-Gage, Apple's iPhone/iPod Touch, and on mobile phones.
According to Sony, FIFA 10 will be the last FIFA game for the PS2.
Before EA announced it would be developing the game, a producer of FIFA made a forum topic for improvements for FIFA 10. Hundreds and thousands of posts were made in the topic.
EA will release another football game for 2010, the 2010 FIFA World Cup video game, which will feature all of the national teams associated with FIFA.
Manager Mode
The Manager Mode for FIFA 10 has been revamped and has had a multitude of issues and criticisms addressed according to EA Sports; 50 key improvements in total. Among these improvements are:
The transfer system will be more authentic, as money is not the monopolizing factor in acquiring a player. The acceptance of the offer will be based on factors such as the amount of players in your squad in the same position, and the promise of European competition outside of the domestic league. Furthermore, obtaining a player's services will be more realistically prolonged as the manager must deal with competition for the player by other clubs. Also, now you can submit bids in for several different players and if the club accepts, then you as the manager has the choice of approving the transfer. So for instance if you submited bids for 3 different strikers, and you only needed one, if the clubs of those 3 players accept the offers, you have the choice of choosing which of the players you actually want to have.
The financial matters in the game will be based less on a team sponsor and primarily on the board of directors, who will provide two overall budgets: Wage budget (the amount of money provided every year for paying players) and Club budget (the money associated with buying and selling players as well as team improvements).
There will be a Board Difficulty setting, in which players can decide how "generous" the board is financially.
The Player Experience and Growth System has also dramatically changed. The manual XP growth from FIFA 08 and FIFA 09 have been abolished; player growth will now be determined by in-game performance, demands placed on the player, and achievements based on the player's particular position. There will also be three categories for gaining experience: Mental XP, Physical XP, and Skill XP. Younger players with higher potential will gain XP much faster (especially in Physical XP) and each player will have an individual growth point, which in turn promises more authentic gameplay.
Results for simulated non-user matches will be more heavily based on team strength and not appear as "random" as has been the case in the past. This will result in more realism and eliminate instances from the previous title where stronger clubs were fighting relegation and clubs with weaker players were winning the league.
Pre-season friendlies will be introduced to the next-gen versions of the game, which will be organized by the club's assistant manager for a chance to flatten out any wrinkles in a club's lineup before the domestic season begins.
A Live Season feature has been implemented within Manager Mode. As players' forms rise and fall based on performance (within Manager Mode itself, not real-world events), players will receive a temporarily higher or lower rating along with temporarily higher or lower stats to implicate the authenticity of player form.
Kit numbers can once again be edited.
The fatigue of players will be more authentic and realistic, eliminating the problem in which lower-level teams suffer from incredibly low energy levels throughout a series of matches.
The AI of other teams across the Manager Mode world has been improved significantly. Opposing clubs will rotate players more often based on factors such as fatigue, player form, and even the relative importance of a match (i.e the lineup for a top team in the early rounds of a domestic cup will consist of lower-level and younger players as opposed to a full-strength squad).
Total Football Experience will be a new feature in which football news around the Manager Mode world will be visible, including player transfers, fixtures and results in foreign leagues.
A new mode which has been revealed is the "Set-Piece Creator". Using this, runs can be assigned to specific players for different directions. It is not known yet wheather this will be available on online play, as revealed by producer David Rutter.

SPC is going to be a gimmick methinks - it doesn't look practical enough to be put to actual use. I'm hoping to be proved wrong, however.
I still believe if they take the PS2 version, upgrade the graphics a wee bit and release it on the 360 it would beat every PES ever. It's lazy development to have a next-gen game without current-gen features.

No. It is NOT the cover art. It's a temporary cover art for distributors and retailers to use for pre-ordering to save there being a gray space there. I can assure you what you see isn't the cover.

Some of them changes look really good especially the changing of a team as it's annoying when you change your team due to fatigue and all their team has no energy. Transfer window changes also seem pretty good. Looks good. :)
Yeah also this year the goalkeeper can be sent off due to the feedback they got in the forums. Biggest change I am glad about is the fact you can change kit numbers again, especially for 360 because our update wasn't that good.

I should wrap this up now, but I will leave you with a taste of some of the other gameplay features that will be in FIFA 10 as a result of feedback from the community.
- Ability to change kick taker on set pieces
- Ability to move the wall
- Preventing goals being scored from kick-off
- Making offsides less frequent and improving our advantage logic
- Quick Free Kicks
- Fewer ‘cut scenes’ replaced by on-the-field player reactions
- ‘Super Long Throws’ - Players like Rory Delap will be able to throw the ball into the heart of the box from afar
- New ‘Ball Avoidance’ logic so teammates and the referee will get out of the way of passes and shots
rory rory rory
Its great that they actually decided to do that!

I hope the team A.I is a lot smarter this time around. So many times I get letdown by my own A.I's stupid mistakes. Every defensive line in 09 seemed too eager to catch strikers offside rather than cover the space (the cover in custom tactics doesn't work). Defenders couldn't defend against lob throughballs and regular throughbals properly they would always get stuck on the wrong side of the striker. Pace and strength shouldn't be so overwhelming either it seems crafty, smaller players never had the same effect as the likes of Eto or Ibra. The 360 degree dribbling is what I'm most excited about though. I hope the demo does come out soon.

also are there any new leagues?
Yes EA Sports announced that there are 6 new leagues in the game but they haven't announced what they are yet. Its very likely that the Russian league is in it though. I hope more Asian leagues are added instead of just like... 2.

I use Dynamic v2, have done for ages now.
I'll clear some things up for y'all.
The only new league is the Russian Premier League and that is only available on the current-gen versions because they secured the deal too late and there's not enough space on the disc (allegedly).
There's no new stadiums confirmed and I don't expect there will be.
I'm still pissed off that most of the 'new features' EA are claiming to be new were on the PS2 3 years ago and they think they're done well. Idiots.
They said they were adding 6 new leagues..?
So.. source?

Some Screenshots
It’s safe to say that FIFA 09’s Manager Mode was lacking, with the FIFA development team focused on gameplay more than anything else last year. But listening to feedback over the last eight months following the release of the game, EA have made it one of their main objectives to revamp it in this year’s release.
There were many little niggles that used to frustrate fans of MM, but following a discussion with David Rutter and Marcel Kuhn, we are pleased to announce the following two features will be in FIFA 10’s MM:
* Squad Player Number Assignment – The user will have a screen on which he can re-assign every players squad number at any point.
* Authentic Time of Day/Weather – The time of day/weather selection will be based on the time of the year and the day the match is played on, as well as the region and the league the users club plays in. The results of this feature will be that mid-week cup games will be played at night, it will rain a lot more in England and the sun will shine a lot more in Australia.
These are just two of the many fixes and improvements that MM fans can look forward to when FIFA 10 is released later this year.

Last year with the release of Fifa 2009 we made over 100 threads discussing the game and its' features. I'm guessing the release of Fifa 2010 will affect the forum in the same way so we might aswell start discussing it now before its release on October 2nd.
What do we already know when it comes to changes?
Well with the help of Wikipedia and several other resources such as the EA website we can gather that Fifa 10 is going to come across as a 'big change.'
The tagline for the game is "How big can football get?".
There are several ways the developers can change the game and they have done. They have changed the manager mode into a more realistic managerial experience, they have added a new method of dribbling and they've even improved those goalkeepers who usually don't seem to know where they are.
When on the attacks, players will analyse space more effectively, making curved runs to beat the offside trap, and offer more variety when moving forwards. Defensively, EA promises entirely new concepts such as position priority that allows defenders to multitask, such as filling in spaces left open by their teammates. Finally, EA also promises a myriad of improvements to the keepers, resulting in a more responsive and powerful rushing system.
The question is not however 'what is going to happen' but what would you like to see happen? I personally would love for the developers to focus on collisions with players simply because I would love to see Ferdinand throw little Arshavin around. So, what would you like to see in Fifa10?

Also may i add that you can become a player by uploading ur photo to the website and then appear on the game as a player virtual pro i think its called.
I cant wait for fifa 10 demo out on thursday :)
im liking the idea of 360 dribbling to make the game more free flowing, as well as the manager mode looks ace as raising young stars to the top of their game.

Placing your face onto your player? They've done that with Fight Night 4 and the result was absaloutley horrendous.
It's called EA gameface or something isn't it? You have to have a picture with just the right amount of light and shadow else your face turns out a mangled mess. I even tried it with celebrity photos and the results were terrible. Maybe they'll fix it.
I also can't wait for the improvements in the dribbling. Currently, when you are dribbling and you flick the skill buttons it's just luck wether you succeed in that skill in getting past the player or not and that's not really good enough. The goalkeepers should be great this time round, I hope they really do have a changing affect on the game.

Honestly, Im not sure if im going to buy FIFA this year. If the demo is anything like the actual game, ive got doubts. Graphics aren't exactly amazing, game play is meh. Nothings doing it for me at the moment.
It came out just before 11. It's amazing, everything on it is so much more smooth. Some of the new features are just great, it's amazing how massive the updates on the 360 and PS3 have been, compared to the past Fifas on old-gen consoles.

I'm having a really tough time getting used to it. Midfield is still very congested and the referee is always blowing for fouls as if it were a La Liga game. One thing I really liked (apart from dribbling) was the new viewpoints for freekicks and corners. Really good for picking out runs.

Downloaded pretty quick for me. Looks pretty good. Lots of curl on the ball in arena mode but no fussed on this physical side, seems to give a massive advantage to defenders when a striker is clean through on goal. Goalies seem easy to lob, although I haven't tried it, haha. Keepers also seem to catch the ball less which is pretty annoying. The blocks and tackles are good though so yeah, seems pretty good but I've only played one game. :P

There aren't any skills on the demo. In Fifa 09, you used to be able to turn the right analogue stick and it would do skills, you can't do that in this demo. For the real one I guess they will change this.

You just do the same as you done last year. Hold LT, and then using the right stick. Yeh, you can do the step overs, and basically everything that you could last year. I guess you just need to get used to using them again on a new Fifa, as it was hard to use them on the Fifa 09 demo aswell, iirc.

Yeah I just played a game on WC and won 2-0, not too hard. I have to say though its stupid pace wise. I was with Messi playing against some other player who I've not heard of before and got outpaced, It's almost impossible to outrun a defender so you have to either pass it, or skill past them.
Simmzay
14-09-2009, 10:57 AM
It's their way of implementeing fatigue into the game. Even in real life Messi wouldn't outrun an entire defence. But A.I on Fifa has always been a cheat so who knows.

I have 09 and I've played the 10 demo yesterday... unless you mean I'm not a hardcore player, then fair enough :P.
In my opinion though, I would have expected 09 to already be at the standard of 10 as it's not that much of an improvement but it is better, it has to be said. I tend to leave at least a year before buying another Fifa game anyway because it's the only thing I ever buy as soon as it's released.
I think the demo is way to easy. The defence in the other teams is way to easy to break through, although if they actually do get the ball it can be hard to get it from them.
The best team to play against in the demo, is Bayern, imo.

Been playing the game today with my brother for about 4 hours. To be brutally honest, i'm not a fan of these sorts of games, but it's definatley an improvement on F09. I won 10 in a row, they were my first 10 games :P
I've been doing be a pro season mode, played 32 matches so far so that's like 5 hours straight without simulating. :( Started as an oldham athletic reserve and I'm now in the main squad as fan favourite woop. I'm also overall 83 with the guy I created so I should be playing for a team like man u but nevermind... Oldham will probably sell me for more than what oldham athletic is worth itself. :P

"gratz" on attempted sarcasm.
I could score volleys from half way line on amateur all day long. It's not even half challenging.
Nice to hear that, i seriously couldnt care less

You cared enough to reply, spoiled boy. You were trying to claim it as an awesome goal when it simply wasn't, would've been or could've been. Playing on amateur is like playing someone with 1 finger.
i cared enough to reply because your trying to gloat at being able to play on semi-pro or whatever, i was trying to claim that it would have been a awesome goal because he heeled it in mid air, its the first time ive seen it happen..

lol semi-pro.
I wasn't trying to gloat, I'm just saying amateur is terribly, terribly, terribly easy and you can score 70 yard bicycle kick volley backheels with the press of a button.

Shooting is harder on Fifa 10, i've missed simple shots Lol
I got called up to play an England vs Uruguay friendly, I was up front with Rooney and had all the best players behind me. The funny thing is that I'm still playing for oldham athletic 2 leagues below all of the top players. The season is ending soon so I'm gonna go up soo much. My overall is 85 with the player I started from scratch, I score like 2-9 goals in every match, the difficulty level is semi pro so just average.

Right I haven't got the last FIFA so I'm a bit baffed in some ways. Anyone care to quickly explain Virtual Pro and the other game mode? I think I get it roughly. Also, how do you get called up to play for England onliine and stuff like that.
Also another thing I noticed is that the refs are poor. I was online and Basically I lobbed the keeper, then just to make sure it went in I followed it in and apparently I fouled the keeper, even though it went in the net. Also, I scored a goal and after I scored the Ref awarded me a penalty. I didn't want the penalty I wanted to goal lool. Oh and when I'm one on one and someone attempts to foul me from behind and I shake it off, the ref calls a foul even though I'm clean through.
I like how if the ball hits the ref it actually hits him, doesn't go straight through him. Makes it more realistic.

Yeah I found be-a-pro really easy on 09. Even on world-class.

If you order from Tesco it will arrive past the 8th which is either going to be Friday or Monday. That put me off as I was going to do that but couldn't be asked waiting that long. Your better off cancelling that and just ordering from Amazon.

This game is just stupid
i am in coca-cola league 1 with rotherham utd
Won 6-1 in efa round 1 against BSC Young Boys and got -22 rep and BOARD COMMENTS - this league is not your standard, still you are not performing well
yet i am 1st in the league by about 20 points...

lol thats weird. What difficulty is your board and gameplay?
if your leading by 20 points i would turn gameplay difficulty up a notch - maybe 2.

im really good at going round keeper on 1 on 1 i roll the ball to the right giving me more space and crack the shot and Goal!

If you turn on your assistant manager I think that it is done automatically. I don't like that though as I put out my top team, next week it gets reset to rest players. I'd rather play my best players and rest them when I don't need them.

Been playing this game for a few days now, i prefer it over FIFA 09 JUST.
I love virtual pro though, but when you make a manager mode with your pro in, then unlock more acomplishments it dosent update your pro in manager mode which is crappy.
Also how do you make your Pro take throw ins, i wanna unlock the 2 throw in traits.
