View Full Version : Would you let a 16 year old drive this?
Imagine if you where related to a 16 year old that has been driving for 2 years on tracks and has driven things like Porsche Carrera 4's and powerful Mercedes. Would you trust them to drive your Nissan GTR around the track that they know well and can drive round in a 2.0 Clio faster than you can?

The track would be surrounded by grass so it's not as if they could smash it up...

No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't let any psycho 16 year old near my car let alone that car.

No, There's still a chance that you can't handle it and you'll roll it.

Maybe not, the car looks too good.
But if the "person" can drive a 2.0 Clio around the track faster than you can, surely you would trust them to have a little go around without breaking anything.

No, just because you can carry speed doesn't mean you're a better driver.
That car is just epicly, amazingly awesome and i love it so much :)
If the guy can drive it, then why not?

Nah, it's not all about how good of a driver you are, you need class for the car and at 16 you dont have.. :D

hmmm not really lol.
16 year old driving that would be classy.

No.. Like I said, I wouldn't let a sixteen year old drive my car let alone that car, regardless of their experience.

I wouldn't let anyone drive my car ;)

So you would let for example a 20 year old drive your car with exactly the same experience as this 16 year old?

No. I would be reluctant to let anyone drive my car, because it's my car :P.

you say this person has driven a 2.0 clio around the tracks, but you cant compare a 2.0 clio to a nissan GTR
no way in hell would i trust anyone in my nissan gtr especially not a 16 year old.
is this 'person' you by any chance?
definately not, i wouldn't let a 16 year old near my car never mind that. you can hardly compare an underpowered hatchback to a brand new japanese supercar.

you could still always hit into the tyres or even roll the car over.

There are no tires!!! The track is comparable to the Top Gear test track but it isn't an airport lol (I wish).
all it takes is a little bump to roll the car over. despite this fact, i'm sure he wouldnt appreciate some stupid kid going sideways along the mud at 80moh regardless of wether it tipped or not.

It's just been tarmacked, as smooth as a baby's bum tbh.

are you this person?
did you actually ask someone if you could drive there nissan GTR around a track and expect a yes?
no, i wouldnt. what would i get out of that apart from perhaps a messed up car?
I wouldn't let anyone drive that car w/out atleast 10 years of driving kfnx. If it was my car and a 16 year old was there, i'd be standing there ******** a brick at every slight move he makes.

You're right, going fast DOES make you a safe driver... This attitude alone is enough reason to not let a kid take my car out. I don't like my mum taking my 1.4 Clio out down the road and she's been driving decades, so there is no way in hell I would let a 16 year old drive a Nissan GTR if I had one

Believe me, it's pretty easy for a car to go sideways!

didn't you post once saying your brother has one? so obviously you asked and he said no, and you're gutted.
were you hoping to go 'look bro, all these people on the internet say I can drive your car as they have more of a say in the matter than you.'
'it's been tarmacked, smooth as a baby's bum' .. fair do's, but didn't know you could tarmac grass nowadays ;)
keep dreaming.

No, I wasn't going to use these reply's to make him change his mind. We recently got it re-tarmacked so it was suitable for driving around on and since then I've driven all kinds of cars around. Just because I'm 1 year too young to get a license doesn't mean I can't drive, lots of fast racing drivers start out young (not like I want to be a racing driver or anything). All I wanted to do was have a little go, not going at high speeds but accelerate fast, with him sat in the car with me of course. In less than a years time when I get my license, will I be any better at driving around the track? No.

no but just because of the fact you will be 17 and hold a licence does not mean you are in a position to handle the car.
