View Full Version : Are you good at saving money up?
I've been saving non stop for a year now, I withdrew my money a couple of days ago because I had reached 4k. My parents convinced me to put it back and carry on saving so that's what I'm probably going to have to do. I've always been good at saving money up and I don't understand people that just can't do it. Can you save up?

I can somewhat yes, but I can sometimes be quite stingy with my cash. If I have, for example, £1500 in the bank, I wouldn't wanna go below a grand.

I can if I need to. I just save it then when I see something I want just buy it if I've got enough.

i can blow like £200 in a day without needing to try ):
It's easy to blow a lot of money on a day out if you actually have all the money with you. The way to do it is try to estimate how much you will need and bring an extra tenner on top of that just in case. £4,000 isn't actually a lot when you've been saving up for a year. It's a tenner a day when people work for around £6 an hour like 8 hours a day. I'm hoping not to spend 1 penny of it and carry on saving up for another year.

i did have like 1500 and 750 in shares so like 2250 but then bradford and bingley (w/e) went back so i lost my 750 in shares -cries. then i got made redundant from work. then i went shopping, got a car, insurance, tax etccccccccccccccccccc. got like 400 now lol.

yeah, i only spend it if i really want something. otherwise i think 'do i really need this?' and if not, i dont spend. money just accumulates in my wallet as i get paid weekly and it just builds up over time.

i'd probably be able to save if i had a bank account that i could actually use but i'm not allowed until i'm 18 ;l so no, i'm really bad at saving up.

Yeah, I hardly ever spend money so any money I receive is normally saved.

it's hard in summer tho. i've already spent like £300 going out with mates, drink, petrol, insurance, clothes.
I managed to save up nigh on 6k for my car, but only because I got part of my wages put into a different account.. I'd be terrible at it if I had to keep it aside.

Erm, a while ago I put money in the bank to just accumulate on it's own so there was about £1500 when I put it in. But I don't have a job atm so I'm not making any money just spending it :/ that aside I'm actually quite a good saver I've got about £900 available split between the bank and just lying around as well as £99.20 in silver coins :P

I can save up quiet a bit, then I normally accidently blow it in one go.

I use to do the exact same. I'd save up my weekly pocket money for a few weeks, friend rings "wanna go to the cinema then bowling and laser quest?" all blown. I've done that so many times though.

not really. i have like 60 quid atm, and i don't like money just sitting there it's like i have to spend it. but if i did save it up to a few hundred or whatever i'd probably want to blow it all. i really should start saving properly though.

i'm a saver. since i started work 2 or so years ago i have bought plenty of things.. a $7500 car, just under $1000 for a 60gb ps3 (the ps3 compatible one), tv ($1329), wii etc.. and still have about 1.5k in my bank.
Obviously that doesn't show me saving but i had to save up for the things i wanted. and i still have expenses. ouch
Yeah when I see something I really want I can save my money until I have enough and get it. But I dont save money if I dont aim to buy soemthing.
Samantha.
