About 2 years ago a working client would be fantastic and something that only many of these MMOCCs could only dream of. Now, a client is nothing. An extended client like BittyBay is great but the publicity of the site is piss poor.
I wish you good luck.

Agreed, if you want to get anywhere you can't just change the theme of the game you need to have real original and innovative ideas.

After the closure of mmoccforum there have been like no mmoccs me and dave closed paradise-isle because there was to much hard work and funding needed now theres only openshock.
Bittybay has no advertisement thats why they have no users. They could be really successful if they got there heads out of there arses and get going.

Okay if some are thinking what makes you original i shall tell you, We have got a 'Innovative idea' it folows.
Users have two options when it comes to furniture, Creating or Buying. Creating furniture introduces our new system, Virtual Intelligent Resource Collection Unit (VIRCU) Where users can collect resources. Resouces can be used to create furniture but without the required blue prints making the furniture is impossible.
This makes users have a slower but cheaper option when it comes to furniture. Our system will allow users to do tasks like, mine chop and even farm when it comes to getting resources giving users a experience of their choice.
The option of buying the furniture will still remain with a in client catologue but it will be more expensive and you will get it instantly unlike when creating it.
@Kickerbat
Yes shame of the fall of mmoccforum and opensock is now growing more quickly as their are many mmocc dev websites/forums.
on the topic of bittybay i totally agree.

OpenSock was opened after the demise of MMOCCforum and they have several MMOCCs on there and some with working clients. The fact is even if it does have a great client without the necessary advertising and such it won't be successful and not to be harsh but judging by the graphics I don't think it will be that popular anyway. Why should people play it? Habbo has a large user base of people to talk to, hundreds of items, good mini games, a fast server and its really well developed. Its like creating your own search engine to go against Google, it isnt going to work I'm afraid.

A decent idea can always work.

It may be original but that doesn't mean its going to work. Its overcomplicating an idea that should be so simple.

All the mmocc's on openshock are from mmoccf. It's just the same as mmoccf but diffrent owners, Johnathon should bring it back as that was the main rescource centre for mmocc's.

One more question?, Why use a habbo forum to advertise this game?.
Lucas0123
31-07-2009, 02:17 PM
Good question, I just thought that people that play habbo, may want the chance to try a new game out.
Also as we know mmocc forum have closed down, could you suggest any other forums which would be particularly good to advertise this game on? Any suggestions would be fine.
To Stop you getting an infraction dont post forums urls on the thread you could pm them if you would like.

I know it's slightly different, but when Serj (I think his name is) and the other guy started Google people thought they were mad for going up against the big search engine of the time, and look where they are now. Same with people like Mark Zuckerburg (haha typo I think) when he started Facebook.
If you can offer a better service, for just as good or better value for money (or free!) then people will eventually notice. But it does need to have a majorly unique selling point in a market like this.

Richard, please do not compare Google to this :P Google had a unique view on search than the other sites that existed at the time. They completely changed the way web search was conducted.
Where as with this site, it sounds like there is nothing innovative or new.

If you don't have financial backing, you'll fail. In this economy, you won't get financial backing.

As long as they can provide a server capable of catering 1,000 players, then that is all you need to start up with.
Every company starts off small and grows with time. And why would a small game in BETA need financial backing from say.. a bank? As long as he and whoever else helps to run this project can inject funds from working, then all will be fine.

To your replies,
One of our main ideas I posted about earlier in this thread, This should attract users as it gives users something to do on our client.
Skajo, we have money at hand when we need it so we are okay on that side of things. Also i would like to tell you that we recently have purchased a vps which will keep our server online.

cos its going to epically fail unless you come equipped, if your sever fails while lets say you did a full opening then people woulnt come back. they'd know your a small website in a big world. you dont stand a chance unless you have thousands and thousands of pounds to invest.
Lucas0123

Its obvious if your server fails on a big opening people wouldn't come back..
We will survive until we build a bigger userbase then we will invest but we don't need to yet.

A) I'm probably older than you.
B) I haven't played Habbo in over 5 years.
C) Your comment proves your maturity.

You do not know how stupid that is
For beta a vps will do (if it's not under powered). There's no point wasting money on something that is not guaranteed to work. If they feel it'll work, then they can buy a ded server.

Yet you decided to sign up to a Habbo fansite Forum 1.5 years ago?

Which is true, but I'm not following why 4 years after you stop playing you sign up to a fansite based on the game. That was the point I was making.

Wow, reading through this, i am having second thoughts about my game -.-
it is slightly new but still in planning stages so im going to have to think up some ideas to make sure my game gets a large userbase.

Having just checked the BETA sign up page, I was suprised to see how you went about collecting applicants to test the BETA of your game.
It would make more sense, or at least to me, to get a group of people who understand such games and have experience - basically, an application form, and not have a group of people who may not really get the hang of games with ease.
Besides that, good luck to whoever does get chosen. A shame I was too late - it looks to be a good game.
