Finally, Virgin Media are getting HD channels! The first 3 launched today, the rest are launching soon.

In their press release it says:

"FX HD, MTVNHD and National Geographic HD are launching on Virgin Media’s TV platform 30 July 09. ESPN HD will launch on 3rd August, with 4HD and LIVING HD coming soon."

4HD should be good - Hollyoaks in HD!

The bits in bold are them :)

Also, as a Sky customer they seem a bit old, but then again, both Sky and Virgin are incredibly rubbish companies, so can't really argue for or against :P

Does anyone know what happened to ITV HD?

They only channel out of them that i watch is 4, and i dont see why they would have a HD channel? :S

FXHD is 158
National Geo HD is 232
MTVN HD is 310

They're available on the V+ box. All are XL except 4HD and BBCHD which are on all packages if you have the V+ box.

Skins, Shameless, Hollyoaks are filmed in HD and I watch them. Most of their programs are on there but they are upscaled, which means they are better quality, but not as good as real HD.

Apparently it wasn't worth it, if you look at the schedule, there is only like 1 program a day, if that.

How can you say Sky and Virgin are rubbish? completely the opposite, where would anyone here be without them? we'd be stuck with cut down freeview. (minus all the freeview sky channels.)

Does anyone know what happened to ITV HD?ITV HD is exclusive to Freesat for the moment. I suspect that once Freeview goes HD at the end of the year, ITV HD and BBC HD will also be on Freeview, with 4HD as well I'm guessing?

Oficially, yes, but you can also view it if you have the Sky HD package.

Yup, BBC HD, good for Tennis and Heroes, and that's it.

Now for F1 to start using HD camera's and Virgin to get Sky Sports HD, then will I actually care.

Virgin will never get Sky channels in HD.

They aren't introducing any additional charges for the HD channels on VM.

Is anyone getting the same problem?

My HD channels (V+ XL) like BBC HD and FX HD have no sound, but all other channels do :/

Are you using HDMI from your box?

Or answer: Did it work before?

Doesn't each HD channel cost a certain amount more on top of your regular Sky bill? It's a rip off to me tbh.

Yes im using the HDMI they provided and BBC HD sound worked about a month ago.

No. You just get the HD package and you get all of the HD channels they provide excluding the Sky Movies HD.

Companies, not the service ;) Sky and Virgin both have crappy customer services and the build quality of their boxes is terrible, the Sky HD Box for example is terrible and Virgin lack alot of decent channels. They provide alot of channels, yes, but it's how they do it within their service and lack of in some cases, Sky are quite good at bad pricing for some peculiar things.

Does it cut out or just none whatsoever? Even since I got the HD box the sound has cut out often and the box had to be reset, but this never happens on the regular box I have or prior to getting the V+ Box.

No sound completely, purely on HD channels like FX sound works but not FX HD
