View Full Version : Might be getting a new "job"
You know them tv programs like "how clean is your house?" etc and they go round cleaning proper disgusting houses? I might be doing that. My parents have started to get even cheaper houses and they are to bad for the people to come in and put new carpets down/paint etc so I'll basically have to get them into a state that is acceptable for work. It won't just be me, my parents will pay my friend to help as well with him wanting to earn some money. What do you think about my new job? It isn't too late to say that I don't want to do it but I'm sure it won't be that bad so why not?

I haven't left school yet. This would just be a temp thing to help out, it's not about the money.

Yeh your right about them having to pay other people to do it, the houses really would be in a state though and I'm sure there will be some real disgusting ones but I think I can handle it. All I know is that the houses are just too horrible for people to come in and work on them. :$

you'll be supprised at what you'll find. I do part-time labouring and when we get a house that wants an extension, we sometimes have to lift carpets. We lifted this one carpet, it had never been cleaned in the whole 5 years it had been there, lifted it and the flooring underneath had rotted, maggots, and everything had nested on the damped out wood.
sounds easy but seeing that almost made me sick.

Before the economy tanked we used to buy cheap houses, then fix them up and sell them. Now we just have apartment buildings, what a nightmare!

We won't be removing carpets but we will be taking out the old rotting away furniture etc. I've already been to one of the houses, there is a sofa that use to be a cream colour, it's all black and brown and stinks. Full of dirt and grime like most of the house which all needs cleaning. I'm having second thoughts but I'm at least going to give 1 house a go.

I don't understand what we are doing that much. I think we have been buying to let houses while they are cheap so when they rise we will make money and the rent will of covered the cost or something. :S We don't usually buy houses as bad as the ones I will be cleaning but a few have popped up that are real bargains.

LOL, I watch How Clean is your house, and i must say you are one brave boy doing that kind of Job. I don't think i'll be able to do anything like that. A matter of fact, i couldn't! I have a bad stomach and anything sickening looking makes it turn.
Cleaned out an old mans house a few years ago, lift up the carpets as he had FIVE lots of carpets on each other and there were slugs, maggots and there was a creature that looked like a snake to me. Ew it's disgustin, couldn't do those jobs.
His Kitchen was a complete junkyard the cupboards were completely black like a fire had taken place inside in kitchen. Couldn't do it.
Good luck, hope you don't find any rats inside! :P
