I put in a DVD and my computer couldn't recognise it. I tried it with both a downloaded and shop-bought dvd and they both didn't work.
Then I tried it on my laptop and it worked fine.
Does anyone know what I should do?

Do you need to update your drivers?

You probably don't have any DVD codecs to play the movie.

Download VLC and try opening the DVD in that, if it works then you need the correct codecs installed.

Codecs are basically what decodes the video.

But when you put a DVD into the disc drive usually a pop-up comes up.
I'll try the VLC thing and see what happens.

I updated my Samsung drivers because of the same thing, although only blank DVD's (I know the whole + & - thing, it should take them) and I ended up with the disc drive constantly whurring, the eject button not working and the drive not showing up in My Computer whatsoever.

I think that needs to be answered before you try any codecs and software, you know. :P

Yeah. If you say CD's work fine then that's probably why.

It'll be the Codecs. I've fixed this problem on a family friends desktop by using VLC instead of WMP

It might be a CD player not a CD/DVD player?

I reccomend VLC Player, it works with all file types
