I can't stand it. Isn't funny to me and the cast are way too old. And for fans of the show, don't get your hopes up, sitcoms with a third series are cursed - they end up being awful.

I watched the first series and didn't like it, not appealing to watch any further. I also hate Friends, and yes, that went on for a long time, but I should have said British sitcoms. I dislike most faddy comedies, the humour's always weak and repetetive I find.

British sitcom: only fools and horses. went on for over 20 years with 7 series and a number of specials, brilliant sitcom and still loved today.

hmmm not following your logic :eusa_wall

Little Britain, Bo' Selecta!, The League of Gentlemen to name a few. More modern than old, and of course there are exceptions. And yes, old is better than new, Only Fools and Horses was brilliant. British comedy sucks nowadays in comparison. Unfortunately the more recent episodes of Only Fools have been dire.

i get what you're saying, i know the type of sitcoms that are great but then it just drags out but to say every british sitcom fails after 3rd series is a bit wrong, many great sitcoms have been british. take for example, two pints of lager.. it was great, even upto series 6 wasn't dire but once it got past that and they dragged it out, it's gone rubbish and pathetic. so yeah i can see what you mean, but not all british sitcoms are dire, some that have gone on for years are great.

dads army, faulty towers, open all hours, keeping up appearances, one foot in the grave, men behaving badly

Notice how they're all shows from yesteryear. British comedy writers are frail in comparison. I agree with everything John Cleese said about British comedy today. They only very good and truly innovative comedies of the last 10 years have been The League of Gentlemen and Nighty Night.

Little Britain has to be the most overrated comedy of the last decade. Everyone was talking about it, so I tuned in, liked the first couple of shows, and that was it, everything was so predictable from thereon.

Not every Brit comedy is doomed at series 3, but these days the majority are. They run out of ideas.

I like every show you just listed apart from Dads Army and Open All Hours.

I was only going of what you said, " sitcoms with a third series are cursed - they end up being awful."

I do agree though and know what you're saying about new sitcoms and when they drag on, My Family is another good example but Little Britain has got to be the best example, the first 2 series were okay but then it just got utter crap.

There is also many sitcoms that air on E4 which are terrible, some are American though I believe. But British Sitcom has got to be the best, the old sitcoms are simply genius.

Psychoville was amazingly brilliant, and dat is recent.

I love the Inbetweeners because it tries too hard to be realistic, and it's so predictable. Still loltastic though.

And what's wrong with friends?

I'm only a fan of adult comedy, Friends is too PG.

Inbetweeners is a fun show even if the jokes are pretty low brow, but I think thats part of its brilliance as it doesnt try to be anything it isnt.

Lead Balloon is probs the best british sitcom at the moment.

My favourite scene in it is when Will is having sex with the popular girl in Series 1 and he has no idea what he's doing and flops about like a fish out of water. And in the same episode when Jay makes a new friend and they all mock him and Jay ends up jumping on the guys car.

It's a hilarious show, glad it's coming back.
