Can't get on using Twitter.com or Twitterific. Error comes up on Twitterific, and IE Cannot Display This Page on the computer.

Would anyone like to shed some light on what a "denial of service" attack is?
"
A denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) or distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to carry out, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of the concerted efforts of a person or persons to prevent an Internet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet) site (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Website) or service (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_service) from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely. Perpetrators of DoS attacks typically target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers such as banks, credit card payment gateways, and even root nameservers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_nameserver)."

I don't know what hackers and all that get out of disrupting services.Nothing the majority of the time, there's rarely any advantage to them, it's a pretty evil thing to do and as you can see, there's not much which can be done to stop them.

So they just get off on other people's misery.
Thanks.

I guess they get a feel of power. For example when people create Habbo Retro Servers, they probably feel powerful because they can do what they want. Obviously, different circumstances to a retro, but they probably feel good knowing they have disrupted peoples days somehow.
God, I can't live without twitterrr lol.
