This is quite possibly the most annoying thing ever ha.

I've got a bit, and have done since primary school. I'm going into year 11 after the Summer holiday so I'm trying to lose as much of it as I can.

For a couple of weeks I've been doing as many crunches, swats, push-ups and weightlifting as possible to see if it helps. I know crunches alone only strengthen the abs.

Would it really be worth going for a jog every night? I smoke quite a bit so try to avoid at all lengths unless I'm doing p.e at school :P
And I can't afford to go to the gym atm neither.

Hate to state the obvious, but giving up smoking would give you money to join a gym? Kill two birds with one stone?

I only spend a couple of quid a week on tobacco, it wouldn't really make that much of a difference money-wise :P

Going running will do more than any ab workouts. Doing situps and crunches don't burn fat whereas going for a run does. Other cardio workouts are equally effective if running isn't your thing try swimming or cycling.

It's £15.00 monthly up here lol.

I should of mentioned that I always walk to the town, which is about 3 miles I think? I thought that'd help me lose wight until I learned you need to walk 7 hours to lose 1 pound :O That just knocked my confidence haha.

I'm fat and I try dieting but I just don't lose anything. If you mean by diet having Diet Cokes then it's not a diet. A diet follows a very strict regime for eating and if followed correctly, it should work almost everytime. Exercise is also needed.

theres no such things as big bones ;)

just eat healithy, do certain excersises such as jogging. if jogging on its own it just too boring take part in football or swimming. also, a small amount of situps may help, but remember that fast situps burn fat whilst slow situps build muscle.

crunches do actually burn fat, depending on the rate you do them. i'm speaking from experience. crunches don't just strengthen the abs.

You should definitely run/jog! Even though it does take quite a bit to burn off fat, the important thing about running is that it tones your body. Crunches build the muscle, but you won't have much to show for it if you have a layer of fat covering them. Combining ab work outs with some sort of cardio like running will tone your body and help reveal your abs.

Also something dietwise that's easy to do that would help a ton is switching to drinking only water. When your body doesn't get enough water it switches into water storage mode which can cause it to retain water and add to that belly flab. Its recommended to get I think about 8 glasses of water a day (which is a lot!), but if you ever start with 4 or 5 glasses a day it'll help flush your body and cuts out a ton of the calories you would have been taking in with soda, even diet soda. Eating more fruit will also help as they are primarily water based and will fill you up and leave you to eat less processed food. That'll definitely also help with cutting out the belly flab :)

Aye but the more muscle you have on your body the more calories you burn at rest so it evens itself out in the long run.

I have a 30/32 inch waist.
I've done no exercise for the past 3 months and Havn't put on a pound. But I've noticed my arms arn't as big as they use to be. People use to tell me I had big triceps but they have just wasted away :(

Do sit ups or stomach crunches; you don't even need to go to the gym for that.
It made my belly lovely and slim (:

One word for you cardio. It's the most effective way to burn fat. You will be amazed what a 15/20min Jog/cycle a day will do :)
Also speaking from experience Situps do work but quite a lot will need to be done daily to show a difference.

People also think that cardio and situps don't make a diference but change happens over a period of time and not over night!

Cardio exercise will burn your fats then crunches will just toned your stomach muscles so a combination of cardio exercise and crunches is better. I guess the best cardio exercise is jumping rope. Quit smoking if you smoke it won't help you.

jogging will loose the weight to show your abs but you have to do them both not one or another :)

You must remember that results wont appear after night, not even after a month. It takes a while to see any results, it's taken me a couple of months to notice I've lost weight and my lower abs are starting to show.

Remember: you could do all the running you wanted, and not lose weight. Why? Diet. You need to make sure that the calories you consume must be lower than the calories you need, to lose weight.

For example, say like you need 2000 calories a day (many adults do, if not more) then limit yourself to 1500 calories. That'll make you calorie deficit by 500, which, over many weeks/months will make you deficit by lots, thus using the stored up fat for energy.

Don't starve yourself - just try and cut out any chocolate/crisps or other high calorie foods and replace them with apples and fruit, which many fruits are supposed to be 'negative calorie' food - Google it.

Hope I've been a bit of a help.

I'm fat and I try dieting but I just don't lose anything.

I had the same problem. I starved myself for 2 weeks straight. Lost 4 stone in the first 2 weeks and started to eat a little more in the next week to get my stomach used to food again, not a good idea at all. you can be very weak.

Wouldnt suggest it.

I don't get this health obsessiveness now. Why can't people accept that eventually they will fill out naturally, then start getting fit around the time you stop growing (18-22).

It's beyond me.
