Not all that confident but oh well! A draw'll be fine. Id play...

Green
Johnson -- Ferdinand -- Terry -- Cole
Young -- Carrick -- Gerrard

Heskey -- Rooney

Honestly, if we get a draw I'll be glad, just not a loss please! :eusa_pray

We should really win, I know they're ranked highly and have good players, but I just feel that if they have aspirations of winning the World Cup, then we need to beat teams like this...

After saying that, I think it'll be 1-1. :P

i think we'll win, although gerrard can't play and i'd like to see beckham play.

The doctors note has just been released to press.

Name: Steven Gerrard.
Illness: Groin Injury.
Cure: Club match on Sunday.
Cause: Interntional friendly tommorow.

It's pissing annoying.

Looks like Craig Bellamy has faked an injury for Wales. Same old, same old.

There should not be a england friendly so close to the start of season.

Made up he's pulled out. Hopefully Johnson will break a nail.

Ashley Young will start in place of Steven Gerrard in Holland tomorrow night.

Skajo
11-08-2009, 03:39 PM
And so he should. I've been crying out for years that he deserves his shot - why SWP gets in infront on him I'll never know. Beckham needs dropping and fast.

1-1 tomorrow.

Dont you agree its silly to have friendly internationals 3 days before the season starts?

StefanWolves
11-08-2009, 03:40 PM
yep, why do sky sports even bother about reporting on newcastle now? no one cares. christttt. :@

beckham doesn't need dropping at all, he should be in the squad, he's good for team morale, he's a level head and the younger players will obviously look up to him, he should be in the squad definitely, whether he should play is a different matter, don't see why he shouldn't come on 15 mins from time if were trailing, he adds a different dimension with his dead ball skills and crossing ect.

Hopefully Babel plays on the right and shows what he can do.

We only have 23 players. If he's that much of an inspiration slap him on the coaching team.

do you actually have anythin positive to say about anyone?

if you don't respect and admire beckham for what he does every time his country plays then you are delusional, he's the only passionate player that we have.

Skajo

Let's get Peter Shilton on the team then, he's done miracles for England.

I respect what he's DONE, not what he's DOING.

Browney
11-08-2009, 03:59 PM
I'd still have Beckham for the deadball situations and for crossing. Maybe a last 20 minutes sub kind of player.

If everyone was fit, I'd say do a 4-5-1 with:

Almunia (GK)

Johnson (RB), Terry (CB), Ferdinand (CB), A.Cole (LB)

Beckham (RM), Gerrard (CM), Hargreaves (CDM), Lampard (CM), J.Cole (LM)

Rooney (S)

That would be my first team if everyone was fit. Then there is potential with Owen, Carrick, Barry, Young, S.W.P, Lescott e/c/t for change but then some players don't work well together so yeah.

at least he's putting his country over his club in a bid to go to the world cup, he's passionate for his country which is more than can be said for gerrard a lot of players.

I can't believe England have come to the point where Almunia is their best goalie.

We don't have any good goalkeepers so we'll take Spain's number 10.

I think owen should have made the team, knowing we have atleast 2 decent strikers is better than 1

CHA!NGANG
12-08-2009, 08:49 PM
We have a few decent strikers. Great 2nd half by England, Poor first half. Great supersubs. To be honest, the senior players just looked like they weren't bothered at all, it was the younger players that were which makes sence seeing as they want to be picked, Lampard, Rio and Johnson really didn't impress me.

Immenseman
12-08-2009, 08:49 PM
meh, that's an OK result. can't expect too much and holland are a quality side still imo.

StefanWolves
12-08-2009, 09:46 PM
If we didn't give away those silly two goals then we would have beat Holland pretty comfortably, I wasn't at all impressed by Holland, England clearly outplayed them, but we just got punished for our pathetic first half defending.

All in all, quite happy on the result, quite happy on the performance, only downside was the two pathetic goals that should not have been conceded.

Skajo
12-08-2009, 10:45 PM
As soon as Beckham came off...

CHA!NGANG
12-08-2009, 10:47 PM
Beckham played really really well imo. Best player in the first half for England. It's more that Milner, Cole and Defoe came on, rather than who came off. You can tell Beckham still has passion for England and he will do well.

Skajo
12-08-2009, 10:52 PM
Dean Windass probably has passion for England, there's a reason he doesn't play though.

12-08-2009, 10:56 PM
shocking lol. handed the dutch 2 goals on a plate complete with full set of silverware :|

theyre lucky they scraped a draw although defoe's goal just after half time was a good one, ill admit

CHA!NGANG
12-08-2009, 10:58 PM
Yeah he has passion along with other attributes. He was the only one on the pitch that really looked bothered in the first half, well I'd say the two strikers too actually but yeah. He put in a few good crosses but he should only really be used for one half or a sub as he hasn't got the fitness anymore to play the whole match.

I was really impressed with C. Cole. Didn't rate him too highly before hand, thought he was decent but not that good but he showed he has strength, speed and great technical ability.

StefanWolves
12-08-2009, 11:40 PM
I understand why some people are criticizing england for their first half performance, but fgs the performance on the whole was actually pleasing, we showed a lot of quality, bar the two shocking mistakes, and we should and would have beaten Holland if it wasn't for the first half blunders, but as people have pointed out, blunders like that would never happen in a major tournament, they only happened today because their minds are elsewhere. (The Premiership.)

I said to my dad just before halftime he should put Milner and Defoe on :lol:.

Defoe's first goal was a fantastic finish. Really top notch.

Browney
13-08-2009, 10:00 AM
Told you, I'd be happy with a draw. :eusa_danc Especially in the fashion that we earned it. But I wasn't going to panic. That's what friendlies are for, finding a right team and formation, and Defoe and Milner made a great case for themselves. I think Capello will be fairly pleased.
