Okay, well i've had a top brace on the top front 6 teeth on for a week, I've got used to the feeling and the 'First time' pain. One thing bothering me - The corners become REALLY sharp, when i felt it when my finger it actully cut through the skin.

Now, should i go to the dentist about this? OR leave it and see how it goes?

They should've given you some weird soft plastic stuff that you put over the sharp bits of your braces to stop them cutting your gums.
If they didn't then just go back and ask for some, I'm sure it's free.

I use to have this problem when I had braces, I'll agree that it's very painful. However when I had braces they offered me this special wax that you put on the corners, it kind of acts like protection. Ring up your orthodontist and explain your situation, they may recommend wax to you, if they do get it because it really helps!

Edit: Nicki I had to pay for mine :'( lol

Yep they gave me wax.
I've had mine on for about... 4 or 5 month now...
There fine.. once you get them tightened they replace it with another wire. Just tell your dentist/orthodontist about it. :eusa_danc

I went to my orthodontist and he said 'I have no idea why you are here, you have one of the most perfect set of teeth I've ever seen'. I went out with a big grin on my face :D

Had to say that, on the topic of braces :P

These are the things you can do. Get them adjusted. If the pain is coming from tightness or a sharp, poking wire, schedule an appointment with an orthodontist as soon as possible. Cover with wax. Orthodontists and dentists should both have a supply of soft, supple dental wax you can place over your braces so they don't dig into your cheeks and gums.

yeah like they said my friends have the wax. If they're that bad maybe you should ask them to take a look because something may have gone wrong :)

There definatly shouldn't be anything that can cause cuts, I've had things that have caused discomfort but never anything that has cut me.

The orthodontist shouldn't let you leave with something that can do that, give them a call.
