On a serious note.. Just go up to him and ask him what was the reason for splitting up and with the reason what he gives then just try and see if you can work something out. If not, then sadly, it's time you just moved on.

Obviously 7 months together is quite a long time, espesh if you were both were physically and mentally close to each other so i wouldn't expect you to lose your feelings for him in such a short amount of time but if nothing can be worked out then just move on.

and as someone has already pointed out, there's plenty more out there for you.
