What ever happened to these? It's been 3 months and I don't think any have been issued out, think they would be a better idea than constantly having to remind some people by bumping the "Arguing/Bullying" thread in spam and actually doing something? :P

Yh i don't see the point in just bumping a thread which takes no action..

Actually, Jen, action has been taken and is being taken all the time. It is just not apparent to you as you are unable to see
the results. Thanks :)

A certain person was supposed to set up the usergroups for the so called "Spam Forum Bans". Although, It looks like he never got round to doing it. I will see if this is still allowed to be done and I will get them sorted soon. :)

Spam Bans

After in-depth discussions between the Forum Management team we have decided to introduce 'Spam Bans' as a result of the recent outbreak of consistent rule breaking, particularly arguing and bullying, in the Spam Forum.

The process under which a 'Spam Ban' will be issued is as follows:

A (Super) Moderator recommends a member be issued a 'Spam Ban';
The (Assistant) Forum Manager reviews the member and feeds back to a Super Moderator whether a ban should or should not be issued;
The (Assistant) Forum Manager issues a 'Spam Ban' for a period between 1 - 7 days;
The member who the ban has been issued to will be unable to see or use the Spam Forum for the duration of the ban.
The idea is that we restrict members from the areas where they cause the most problems as well as still allowing them to participate in a positive way around other areas of the Forum.

Avoiding this type of ban either through account sharing / making a new account will result in the secondary account being permanently banned. This bans will be issued sparingly but strategically, so those issued with a spam ban will be watched carefully during their ban to assure they are not using other accounts to avoid it.

Well obviously I know that if I've been "punished" for it too but actually stopping people from posting in spam would be much more effective...

Oh sorry Jen, I did not realise this was going to happen. Must have happened while I was away! Sounds like a great idea to me. :)

You're welcome :( If people are only getting infracted in spam then banning them from being in there for some time will stop them getting totally banned and more infractions so there would be no need for them to complain about being treated unfairly although I'm sure some would still find a reason to anyway, it's better than receiving loads of infractions though when it can be stopped through these bans.

This should now be in operation. The system to facilitate this has been finished.

^ Ban him. O EM GEE please, just ban him :)

Why are spam bans coming into existence? I've not seen that many bad things happening, or am I just easy going? :P

When Jen gets banned from the spam forum, I'll laugh :)

Glad to see this finally got done, I thought it was already in place because it was mentioned somewhere.

Oh baby :love3:

I don't get why people are so serious about the spam forum. It's spam for a reason :P If they didn't want spam it should be renamed "Meaningless Forum", for all things meaningless yet exaggeratedly looked into for no particularly reason.
