View Full Version : HXSS (team problem)

HXSS is fab and I'm sure it's gonna be as wonderful as it usually is, but the idea of bringing teams into it at a later stage when people have already racked up points for themselves doesn't seem like a plan that'll work. People will be able to see (or work out if it's not published) the leaderboard and join up together with those who are in the lead, which will essentially bring it down to a one-horse race.
I agree with teams being a great part of HXSS but if they aren't implemented from the start I can't see a fair ending. Maybe have the first week individual and the second as teams? Even then I'm guessing everyone would want to join up with whoever got the best individual scores.
Any views and ideas of course welcome from other members too

But in each team there are winners
And i dont see how it wont work out, your playing to win individually and for ur team :S

If you can't see a problem with all of the top contenders being in one team and then everyone else also joining that team because they're destined to win then there really is something wrong

If the top contenders go in one group then thats silly, if you think about what the prizes are for people in the runners up groups.
They're the ones that'll be missing out
I app'd for Blue Team since I won the dogboy123 Fastest Typer event...

It was only yesterday that was individual. Now it's in teams we have gone around trying to get the teams from the winners of yesterdays events before posting the points up though.
Or do you mean joining a team before the whole thing starts?

According to Jack the "don't roll a 6" just now was comprised of entirely black team members. Most people aren't too interested in being the overall individual winner and just want to be on the winning side, as proved by how many are in one team compared to membership of others

If they all join one team, only three people will win the top prizes so I think if they had some sense they wouldnt join the same team anyway if they really wanted to win so bad.
Are the majority in Blue seeing as nvrspk has won the first two years?
+ I think there should be a cap to each team or something OR it doesnt increase untill there is like atleast 75 people in each team.

I think the people not in teams will be placed in a team and this would be done evenly. I'm sure they have it under control ;).

Last year im sure majority of people were in black team aswell? then when blue was winning majority of the newer players joined it so always has been like that lol
only reason i joined the blue team was because i like the colour blue
reason i didnt join the black team because i hate the colour black.

To be absolutely and completely honest with you the reason for no teams in the beginning was absolutely not planned, it was because we ****ed up haha.
With Sammeth.'s resignation that I made him prolong he had started the planning of events (big credit to him for that) but the massive infrastructure behind the HxSS (trust me I know) was nowhere to be seen. I'm basically running the backend alone at the moment and we're way behind where we should be. The lack of teams was due to an inability to properly field them.
Hopefully the full infrastructure should come online tonight, and while its not exactly as organized as previous Summer Spectaculars were as I did the work of two weeks in about two nights, it looks like it will work out.
But, the EOs and DJs and staff that are participating have a large part to do with that.
PS: The high volume of black team members has to do more with coercion than being on the winning team :P Just for the record.
