Hey, looking for a laptop for internet usage, msn, music etc and it has to be pretty high spec to run football manager 10, unfortunatley, the specs haven't been anounced yet so i don't know what to look for, but they shouldn't be too much differant from the 09 specs:
Vista requirements:
2GHz Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core, AMD Athlon or equivalent
1GB RAM
2GB HDD Space
128MB nVidia FX 5900 Ultra, ATi Radeon 9800, Intel 82915G/82910GL or equivalent
Sound Card (DirectX 9.0c compatible)
DirectX 9.0c (included)
LAN: TCP/IP compliant
4x speed DVD-ROM Drive
Keyboard and mouse

My budget is around £400.
Thanks :)

Integrated graphics?

That one looks good, I was gonna buy it a while ago but if you read the reviews the battery isn't v. good. But if that doesn't bother you then it should be ok. For the same price and similar specs you can get the one in the second column heree (http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-inspiron-17?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&ref=lthp)

again, intergrated graphics, would that run football manager?

All laptops use integrated graphics

Edit: I have looked around, you're not going to get anything better for that price. If you wait till closer to xmas then prices may come down so that they can get a board with the n9300.

Edit2: It seems that the GMA 4500MHD graphics chipset shares the memory. It 'might' be able to run FM2010

No they don't...

Yes, they do and learn what you are talking about.

Motherboards on laptops use on-board integrated graphics chipsets. These are usually made by Intel and Nvidia (On higher end laptops) Ati occasionally make them but not as often.

An Nvidia 9400M, 8400M, ATI Radeon 4530HD etc are not integrated as far as I'm aware? :/

When they are used in laptops they are integrated into a graphics chipset which is on the board.

You're getting your terminology wrong.

"Definitions of integrated graphics on the web:

2. A name used for a graphics adapter that is embedded into a motherboard chip, typically the Northbridge. ..."

Nvidia and ATI graphics cards are totally seperate GPUs in laptops and so are not integrated.

A chip on the motherboard that shares the video memory with the processor. Don't usually perform as well as dedicated graphics cards.

You can't get a graphics card in a laptop. They are never separate from the motherboard either, they are always embedded/integrated and part of the chipset.

Again, someone doesn't know what they are talking about.

Actually some of them are connected via a PCI-Express bus so, no, they are not integrated.

When someone challenges your point, they automatically don't know what they're talking about. And when people back up the person that's challenging your point, they don't know what they're talking about either. Has it ever occurred to you that you might be mistaken? You see people admitting they're wrong in this section all the time, you might want to try it once in a while. People won't think any less of you.

As for football manager 10, I wouldn't worry about getting a high end laptop for it tbh. If it has similar specs to football manager 9 and it lists the minimum graphics requirement as "nvidia FX 5900" it doesn't need all that much graphics power as that card is about 5 years old! Most games will run on most new laptops anyway, it won't look stunning but should be playable :)

Grow up. That bullet point does not say that you cannot get dedicated graphics cards on laptops.

If they were all integrated then how could you do this?: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/349/3/

That look good to anyone?

My brother has this laptop, I really like it, good graphics and all. Built in cam and stuff. But if your all for the graphics, why not go with one of the new macs? I love them just because of the amount of memory they store and how you can use them for gaming. But when I say new, I mean like the brand new ones that just came out. Not an iMac or whatever they called. :L

But I like that one. :)

He's on a budget and it means he'd have to get a Mac and install XP on it etc etc, he may aswell just get a Windows machine which would get him more RAM and HDD space for his money.
